Blue Moon

Old Times

“Sweetheart, I had no idea what you were going through, and for that I apologize.” My Mother told me.

I smiled and looked down,”There was no way you could of known. I mean, it's wasn't something that I brought up with you because you were so distance and cold.”

She shook her head,”I have such a strong daughter. I have faith in you Eliza, just like Emily does. Will, will love you again one day, he'd be a fool not to.”

My smile faded,”The way Lucy and him were acting around each other. It hurt, knowing that Will would be just fine without me. It just seems so easy to give up and leave.”

My Mother got up and motioned me to follow her towards the dining room.”You see all the dishes and chairs? Of course it's a little hard to see because I set the house on fire. But when you were gone and I had that demon inside of me, I was doing things unimaginable to me. I couldn't control it, if I could I would have tried my hardest to fight it. I have such peace now Eliza, I wasn't as lucky as you to be given a second and third chance. Sweetheart, I strongest advise you to not waste it. Just fight for life because I couldn't fight for mine and this was where I ended up.”

I had some tears in the back of my eye. I missed my Mother so much, I didn't know it until now.”I'll try Mother. I'll try my hardest.”

She smiled widely,”That's my girl. Now there's one more thing I must tell you.”

I raised my eyebrows,”Yes?”

She sighed, looking down,”When your Father died, he left a will. I didn't want it to be known to you until you were married but seeing that I'm dead and you've had your fair share of obstacles just for one boy, I'll tell you now.” I waited for her to continue. “Your Father's business made money, lots of money by that. We talked back when we first married who would receive the inheritance and we agreed it would be our first born, no matter the sex of the baby. It was written in his will that you would receive profits and any money developed over the years up until your marriage. I'm allowing you with full ease to receive it now.”

I stared at her like she was crazy,”What does that mean exactly? That I'm-I”m rich, I have money?”

She nodded,”Yes dear, lots of money, that I know you'll spend wisely.”

I sat down,” This is..not expected.”

She chuckled,”There's a password to tell the banker when you see him for you to inherit the profit. The password is as simple as your birthday.”

I laughed a little,”My birthday? That's the password? I thought you of all people would be more clever than that.”

She shrugged,”It seemed fit. No one knows of this but the banker and the banker who is in charge now. It's a swear on their life, they won't tell.”

I felt like crying tears of joy,”If you don't mind me asking, how much money is there exactly?”

“Enough to rebuild this house about ten times over. Don't worry dear, you're ensured for life.” my Mother said.

“That's-that's a lot of money. I can't handle that much money!” I exasperated.

“You must! Besides, it'll allow you to clean yourself up, look pretty for Will.” my Mother teased.

“Alright, if you insist.” I got up, dusting myself off. “First thing first though, I'll rebuild this house to it's former glory and have it blessed. No demons will come through this door again.”

If my Mother were alive and could, she would of hugged me.”Always making sure people are taken care of before you. Before you do that darling, please, go to a doctor. I'm surprised you're still waking after you've been through.”

I pursed my lips,”Fine. Doctor first, then house.”

“I'm so proud of you. You must know it, I'm so proud of you.” she told me, meaning every word of it.

“I will be back, you can count on it.” I told her, walking out the house.

“I'll see you soon then.” My Mother called from behind me.

I smiled and went on my way. First I was to find Emily, and then I was going to the bank.

It's been an hour, I went to the Market and saw Emily wondering about. I ran up to her,”Emily.”

She looked at me sadly and pulling me into a embrace,”I had no idea this would go this way.”

I hugged her back,”Emily I have some amazing news.”

She released me,”What ever could be at a time like this?”

I tugged her towards the back at the end of the street,”After I left, I ended up at my house. My Mother is a ghost there and you wouldn't believe what was hidden from me. When my Father passed, he left a will with his inheritance filled out to me. Emily, I'm rich, really rich rather.”

She looked at me with her mouth agape,”Your Mother is a ghost now?”

I rolled my eyes,”Did you not hear me? Emily, I can get medical care for both you and I now. I can go rebuild my house, by clothes, and get anything I would need.”

She let out a laugh,”This is brilliant!”

I nodded quickly,”I just need to go the bank and have it transferred over to my own account.”

We walked quickly to the bank and found the head banker. “Can I help you ladies?”

“Yes, I'm hear to have a inheritance transferred.” I told him.

He looked at me with a bored expression,”Who's the account holders name?”

“I believe it's Remington Mansfield.” I told him. I rarely use my father's name.

Recognition crossed his face,”Password?”

“May 21, 1870,” I told him with confidence.

He nodded,”Follow me.”

Emily and I followed him towards the back of the bank and into a massive vault. He went over to a dusty box,”I was wondering if anyone was ever going to come for this.”

He took his skeleton key and unlocked the small box. He opened it and pulled out a piece of paper with the exact amount of assets and profits written on it. “Which account will I file it under Miss?”

“Under Elizabeth Mansfield please but count out one thousand dollars before you do so.” I told him. I needed money for the medical bill, hotel room, clothes, and for a contractor to rebuild my house.”

“Certainly Miss. Mansfield.” he nodded before taking off towards the front again.

Only a few minutes later he returned, the paper and a thousand dollars in hand.”Here you are Miss.”

I took them from him,”Thank you.”

Emily and I exited the bank, the money and paper safely hidden in her bag. “First thing is to go to the doctor. I'm sure I'll need it more than you.”

Will POV

I sat at the dining room table. It's been about two days since I've seen Emily and her cousin Elizabeth, who has yet to pay me a visit.

The long time maid came into the room and set down my lunch on the table. “It's odd, I never knew Emily had a cousin.”

“Master William, if I may be so bold. I remember this Elizabeth girl, at least she seems familiar.” she told me.

“I told you, call me Will. No Master Will, I'm above no one I believe.” I paused. “Where could you have scene her?”

“I haven't actually scene her but she looks like a great deal of someone I once knew. Eleanor Mansfield.”

I looked at her, puzzled,”But it was rumored that the entire family was deceased.”

“Well they never did find her daughter. It's a great mystery, I'm sure my head is running away with such an idea.” the Maid waved.

“No, no. It's plausible. I'll be sure to ask her next time I see her.” I said. Just then a knock came from the front door.
The Maid motioned to get it but stopped, realizing that I always like to answer the door myself.

I got to the door and swung it open. A smile automatically greeted my face,”Elizabeth, what a pleasant surprise.”

Elizabeth POV

“Emily told me you were expecting me. I hope this isn't a bad time.” I greeted, keeping my composer that Will was standing in front of me once again.

“Not at all. Please come in,” he ushered. “I hope you don't mind, I was just served lunch.”

I shook my head,”Not at all.” I started walking to the dining room.

“I'm impressed by your memory, I only gave you a very brief tour of the house the first time you were here.” Will commented as we reached the dining room.

I swallowed. I made a mistake, I have to act like I've never been to this house before. “Oh I've been told I have a remarkable memory, if you will.”

He smiled, sitting down at his spot. I was about to sit down when the maid came into the room with a plate of food. She took one look at me and dropped it.

I paled, she was same maid who fixed me up during my time here.”Are you alright?” Will asked concerned.

“It's like I'm seeing a ghost.” she said looking directly at me. So I rushed over to help her pick up the mess.

“Let me help you,” I said picking the plate up, along with some silverware. She gathered everything else and started towards the kitchen.

As soon as we entered the kitchen away from Will she whipped around with a knife in her hand,”Who are you?”

I put my hands up,”Listen I know this is confusing. I'm Elizabeth, I know you remember me.”

She lowered the knife a little,”Yes, yes I remember you Elizabeth. You're suppose to be dead though! How are you alive?”

I shook my head a little, trying to find a way to explain,”I know this is a lot to take in and handle right now. But Will doesn't remember me and you can't tell him anything about me. You have to promise,” I said in a quiet voice.

She thought for a minute,”Yes Ms. Mansfield.” Answering in an obedient manner, but it was a slip up that couldn't be avoided.

“Mansfield? As in Elizabeth Mansfield?” I heard Will ask from behind us. I turned around to see a very confused Will.

I had to make up something and fast.

But I hope you like it! I gained subscribers and a comment! I really appreciate it so much! One comment can go so far. It really does help me update, inspires me actually.

Also, I'll chill out on the POV stuff soon, I just wanted different perspectives since this is back to the beginning and everything.
