Blue Moon

Falling

I woke up in the hotel Emily and I were staying in. Spending a majority of the afternoon was Will was enough to remind me why I loved him. I was beyond excited for today, not just for seeing Will again, but because I get to ride a horse.

I've already started preparations for the rebuilding of my house. It costs a little more than expect but it will sure be worth it.

I was able to swipe the top suite as well. I could get use to having all this money.

I got up, putting my robe on, it was slightly to cold in the room. I walked over and shook Emily awake. “Emily, wake up.”

She grunted but opened her eyes, “What time is it?”

I looked at the grandfather clock in the corner of the room,”10:00, on the dot.”

“Alright,” she whipped the covers back and stepped out of bed. She set off for the bathroom to bathe.

I walked over to the vanity and sat down, getting ready to do my hair and make up. My face right now, was bare and raw. I couldn't help but swallow a little self pity every time I looked at the scar that ran down my face.

I wasn't a ghastly scar, it was rather perfect. A perfect claw mark, running in three individual lines, the longest down to my jaw line.

I straightened up, forgetting about the scar and focusing on getting ready on time. I applied my make up and then put my hair up in a bun, letting some loose pieces fall around my face. There was a good chance it was just going to fall out anyways.

I dressed in a simple dress, something comfortable for riding and sitting for some hours. By the time I was down, Emily exited the bathroom nearly ready to go. “Give me just a few minutes.” She rushed around the room, trying to find something to hold her hair up with.

“Just keep it down, it looks fine.” I assured her. “Besides, it'll probably just fall out anyways while were riding.”

She sighed,”True. I'll just suck it up.” She looked at the time,”We better get going anyways.”

I nodded as we made out way to the door, walking out, and locking the door behind us.

When we arrived, Helen answered the door telling us that they were down at the stables.

I was almost nervously, making my way down to the stables with Emily. “What has your stomach in a knot?”

I let a breath,”That obvious?”

“No, not really. I just know you always fidget when you're nervous.” She looked down at my hands currently clasped around my dress. I let it drop instantly.

“I have no reason to be nervous. I mean it's just Will..and Lucy.” I shook my head. “I'm just afraid that Lucy will notice me making eyes at Will, that I can't help, and she'll rat me out. Other ladies can tell if someone fancies another.”

“I'm sure you'll be able to hide it. You'd have to be good at keep secrets by now.” She pointed out.

“True,” I responded as we entered the stables. I was taken aback by what Will was wearing. It was eerily familiar to what he would always wear when he would work. It was just another reminder on what I use to know him as.

I saw someone else out of the corner of my eye though, I was worried it was Lucy. I turned my head to see a man instead. He was around my age, maybe a year or so older. He had the same blond hair, blue eyes Lucy wore. I assume they're related.

“You're just in time,” Will smiled at us. “You can pick you're horse, they're all trained.”

“Great,” I said. Walking up to one that was a light gray color, had black spotting on it. The horse nudged my hand as I raised it up to pet it's face. I like this horse already.

“Oh Elizabeth, Emily! This is Lucy's brother, Collin. He's going to be joining us today since it's one of his few days without work and since Lucy couldn't join us. She's under the weather.” Will introduced.

That explains why Lucy isn't in sight. I sighed, thankful and relieved.

“Nice to meet you,” I walked up shaking his hand friendly. Emily looked nervous though, I've never scene her nervous before.

“Emily,” she greeted quietly. She was never quiet either. What was up with her? Unless, oh no. Does Emily fancy him?

This is just perfect, I rolled my eyes mentally.

I walked over, picking up at saddle. I remember them being lighter, I almost dropped it at first. “Here,” Will said to my side, taking the saddle easily out of my grasp.

He set it up onto the horses back with no trouble at all, I envied him.”I had that.” He gave me a 'Yeah, sure you did' look before handing me a set of reigns.

The horse took the metal mouth piece into his mouth with no problem as I layed the reigns down in front of the saddle.

I looked over and saw Emily chatting up with Collin, I shook my head at her. She deserved some else to take care of her though, someone to like her. Even if it is Lucy's brother.

I lead the horse outside the stable so that the empty field stretched ahead of us. I propped my foot in the stirrup and swung my other leg up and over. I settled into the seat and grasped the reigns, after I smooth my dress out, making sure it wasn't riding up in some places.

I looked back and saw Collin was following my lead but Will was talking to Emily, with a serious look on his face. Emily made brief eye contact with me before looking back at Will. I wonder what that is all about.

In no time though, all of us were setting out into the field. Emily riding up next to me on my right, Will on my left. I couldn't help but notice that Collin was making eyes at Emily, just like she was st him earlier. I had to talk to her about this, it could complicate things.

“Race you,” I nudged Emily playfully. She looked at me with a mischievous glint to her eye as we took off galloping.

Our horses galloped fast and hard through the tree's, Will and Collin were long out of sight by then as we approached and small stone bridge and entered a clearing.

Emily and I slowed our horses as we laughed a little at our race. I took in my surroundings and realized that we were on Achilles’s Cliff.

It was a cliff that dropped off into the Atlantic Ocean. It was called Achilles Cliff because hundreds of years back it was the downfall off many ships, wrecking into the cliffs side. I've completely forgotten about this place.

“What did you and Will talk about?” I asked her, getting to the first thing on my mind.

“It was strange Eliza. He told me he was curious about you're past so he peeked into Mr. Donner's old files and saw that you had a death date under your birth date.” she explain.

“That's not good,” I swallowed worried that he thought I was some sort of ghost now.

“But I told him that it was a presumed death date because you never turned up after the fire. He thankfully bought it.” She hoped off her horse and walked it over to the tree a few feet away.

I followed and tied the horse up to a low lying branch before turning to her,”Hopefully he doesn't snoop around more. I thought that any history of me was suppose to be cleared, maybe Madame Gould didn't know this one though.”

“Maybe.” She shrugged. I saw Will and Collin come trotting into sight. “So fancy Collin?” I said as a statement and not a question.

She froze a little,”Nope, he's just really nice.” Avoiding the subject she walked up to meet them.

She's so lying.

“You two really took off.” Will started as he hoped down off his horse. “Who won?”

“I did,” I pipped up.

“That's what you think,” she retorted playfully. Will smirked at us before walking his horse over next to ours, along with Collin.

I pushed her a little and started walking over the cliffs edge. I peeked over the edge, it was a good drop but we were on a hill so the drop gradually got smaller and smaller until it ended up on a small beach off to the side of the hill. So I started following it down.

“I can't remember the last time I was here.” I heard Will comment from behind me.

“I can. I was about seven, it was one of the many little trips my Father and I took. He wanted to show me mermaids but we didn't see any.” I turned around to face him, stopping.

“I've heard there are mermaids in these parts. I've scene one, nasty things they are.” He shook his head almost disgusted.

“I've met one. She was different though, she was nice. I remember she gave me a pearl before swimming off.” I said, looking back on the memory.

I sat down on the cliffs edge, letting my feet rest on a thick root sticking out. Will took a place next to me.”That's rare, for a mermaid to be nice instead of vindictive and devilish.”

“I was so frightened I remember. I couldn't even move but my Father told me to just stay there, and trust her. So I did.” I turned my head back to see Emily and Collin had disappeared, along with their horses.

“Looks like Collin and Emily took off,” I commented.

Will twisted to look behind him,”Collin has been staring at her all day.”

I smiled,”Emily has too. I've asked her if she fancies him and she denied it, she's lying though.”

Will chuckled,”Collin got weird and bashful when I mentioned that I've known Emily for awhile.”

“Want to go find them?” I asked, ready to get up and ride a little more.

“Why not,” Will said, standing up easily.

I started to get up but foolishly put my weight onto the root my feet were resting on. With a slight pop, the dirt and ground around it came loose and before I could regain my balance, it gave out.

I gasped and Will turned out around quickly in confusion before he realized what was happening. I reached out to take his hands that were stretching out towards me. Our hands grazed each others for just a second, but it was too late. I fell backwards, plunging down towards the cold deep water.

The only memory I could gather was Emily's voice, yelling my name in fear.

Oh no you guys, I lost a subscriber. I want to know, am I doing something wrong? Please comment, I don't mind constructive criticism, let me have it.

Also, I'll try updating every week but I'm having some writer's block and I have a lot going on at school. It's a lame excuse but I'll try my best.

On the bright side, it's Chapter 30! I never even thought I'd make it to 20 chapters honestly...

Thanks for reading though!
