His name is Link, like from the video games. Unlike the video games, he’s shy and a coward and he doesn’t own a horse named Epona. Nor has he ever held a sword. If you asked him he’d tell you it was a mere coincidence that his name was the same as heroic Link’s, but if you asked his parents they’d tell you the truth.
They wanted a hero of their own, someone to fight off their demons, their addictions. Link, a crack baby, is a complete disastrous letdown to his parents. Instead of fighting and caring he fell into the sticky, boiling pit of addiction.
He was never meant to be a hero to Hyrule.
