A Hard (Love) Life

The News

Joey's POV.

"GIRLS, COME DOWN HERE, PLEASE!" My mom yells up the stairs.

"Coming!" Me and Jo yell back.

I put my book down, got out of bed and check the twins, they are fast asleep.

I open my door and go down stairs.

My parents were in the beautiful living room, sitting on the couch. Jo was on the other couch.
I sit down beside Jo and we look at our parents.

"We have some good news." Mom says.

Me and Jo quickly look at each other and silently groan. In this family, "good news" is NEVER good news.

"I got a job transfer, so were moving." Dad says.

I fell like I was going to faint.

"To where?" Jo asks faintly.

"New York." My parents say at the same time.

Me and Jo look at each other. She looks like she's ready to faint too.

"When?" I ask.

"Saturday night." They say.

"This Saturday night?" Jo asks.

They nod and Jo and me look at each other.

"But, that's,like, four days away!" I say.
It was 4:30 at night on a Tuesday right now.

"So, start packing your bags." They say, nodding.

"Later." Jo says then leaves the room, soon we hear the front door slamming shut.

"And you?" They ask me, looking at me.

"Cam's." I say.

They sigh.

I go upstairs, the twins were still asleep.

A few minutes later I go over to Cam's house.
.........................................................................................................
Joey's POV.

I was sitting in Cam's room on his bed, the twins in there stroller. They were starting to awake. Cam was sitting in his desk chair backwards (at his desk), staring at me.

"Guess what?" I say to Cam.

"I can tell it's not good." Cam says.

I nod.

"Tell." Cam says.

Were moving to New York." I say.

Cam's mouth falls open and he scoots his chair over to his bed.

I couldn't help but giggle a bit, he looks so funny with his mouth hanging open like that.

"When?" Cam asks, still staring at me.

"This Saturday night." I say.

Cam was still staring at me.

I giggle again.
"Cami, haven't your parents told you not to stare at people?" I ask.

He scratches his head.
"Not that I can recall." He says.

I can't help, but giggle again.

"Your so cute when you giggle." Cam says.

"Your so cute when you stare." I reply.

He smiles.
"I can't believe in four days, your moving to New York." Cam says with a sigh.

"I know." Why did dad have to get transferd?" I say, sighing.

"So that's why." Cam says.

I nod and we both sigh at the same time.

Cathy comes in the room.
Cam looks at her.

"What Cath?" Cam asks. Cath is Cathy's nickname.

"Mom says: "help with diner"." She says, still standing there.

"Good, later, can you leave now?" Cam says.

She huffs.
"Fine." She says and leaves.

"Would it kill you to shut the door for once?" Cam yells after her.

"She's nine right?" I ask.

Cam nods, gets up and shut the door.

He walks over to the chair, kicks it so it goes across the room right where it belongs.
He plops down beside me.

The twins were awake and are staring at us, being silent like they always are.

"Wow, good aim." I say.

"Thanks." Cam says and kisses my check.

I nod and Cam kisses my check again.

Cam glaces at the twins.
"There always so quiet." He says.

I nod.
"But it's good." I say.

Cam nods and we quickly kiss.

Cindy comes in the room.

"Ugg, what now?" Cam says, looking at Dy. Dy is Cindy's nickname (the Y is silent, so it's just D).

"Mom says she needs you to help with dinner." She says.

"Fine, leave." Cam says.

She leaves.

"Would it kill you to shut the door for once?" Cam yells after her.

I giggle.
"She's eleven right? I ask Cam.

He nods.

We kiss quickly again and go downstairs.

Dy and Cath are coloring in coloring books on the floor, Cat and Vic are sitting on the couch, watching a TV show.

Cam goes into the kitchen and I sit down beside Cat.
