All We Need

all we need is love.

She put her head in his lap and reached for his hands, threading their fingers together. He gave her a smile and then looked back at the television set. It was a movie he'd picked up while he was getting chicken for dinner that was now cooking in the oven. Older, from when he was a teenager. He hadn't seen it in awhile. She'd had no interest in the title, but was watching it with him anyway. She liked to hear him laugh at the cheesy dialogue.

They'd only moved in together a few months before, but the pattern was already nearly perfection. He gave her the space she needed and didn't even have to ask if she needed it now. And she would watch the cheesy B-movies he loved so long as she got to curl up next to him.

They really didn't need much else.
