Chapter 9
Maeve’s POV
I looked up at him in stunned silence for a moment as he watched me waiting for a reaction. Slowly a smile stretched across my face until it became a full blown grin making him laugh and lean down nuzzling my neck. I took a quick gasp of air as his nose touched my flesh and he breathed in my scent.
“Mmm, you have no idea how good it is to be able to act normally around you now” I giggled
“and you go around sniffing all the girls?” I felt him smirk as he replied
“they wish” I laughed and smacked his shoulder. He got to his feet and helped me up with a smile. I grinned back at him and pulled him towards me catching him off guard slightly; when he was close enough I leant up and nuzzled his neck taking in a deep breath to get his scent into my lungs. I felt him shiver and he moved closer to me and tried to put his arms around me but I backed away chuckling and said
“hey, breakfast is ready if you want some” he pouted
“food was not what I was thinking of” I smirked
“and here I was with lots of ideas” his face lit up but I shook my head with a laugh
“no down boy! I’ll race you to food” I took off towards the door but just as I flung it open I was grabbed and flung over Alex’s shoulder. I slapped his back
“hey that was no fair!” he laughed as he ran down the stairs saying
“well if you weren’t so slow I wouldn’t have to” I gasped indignantly
“I am not slow I bet I could beat you in a race. Remember the race to class?!” he snorted
“a race through a crowded school so doesn’t count” he dumped me in a chair at the table where his mother had set down breakfast. I glared at him as he sat in the seat across from me
“I will get you back for that” he rolled his eyes
“sure” then he forked a load of food onto his plate and proceeded to eat it all. I shook my head and took a few pancakes and some fruit then started to eat it. As I mulled over how to get him back his brother Will came in and Adolf shortly after. I smiled at Will who grinned back before getting straight into his food while Adolf gave me a kind smile and a nod before sitting down and talking to his wife while eating.
I sat there and thought when a perfect idea came to my head. I slumped slightly in my seat so that I could reach further and proceeded to lift my foot and rub it against his leg. Alex choked on a piece of bacon and his brother thumped his back with a concerned frown
“are you alright bro?” Alex coughed and croaked
“yeah, I’m fine” he glared across at me and mouthed
“stop” but I just looked at him innocently and carried on eating. He looked at me suspiciously before going back to his food and I waited a moment before lifting my foot higher and rubbing the inside of his thigh. He didn’t jump this time though but instead slowly lowered a hand to his lap and grabbed my foot, I tried to tug it back but he wouldn’t let go so I just sat there eating while watching him, waiting for his next move. He proceeded to rub his thumb along the inside of my foot making me squirm because it’s ticklish.
He did this a few times until I let out a small giggle making the others at the table look at me, I gave a sheepish grin
“I just thought of something really funny” they gave me strange looks while Alex tried not to laugh. I pouted and he smiled lightly before squeezing my foot a bit and letting it go. I quickly finished eating and stood up to take my plate to the sink but Annette spoke
“oh no dear just leave it there” I looked at her and shook my head
“now that’s not nice, you made it so I should at least clean my plate plus I have something to say in a moment” she nodded and I went and washed the plate before sitting back at the table. They looked at me expectantly and I took a breath before speaking
“well I came here last night but it wasn’t some random me wanting to visit, I kind of had some visitors last night” Alex growled
“did they hurt you?!” I shook my head
“no it’s what they could do and who they are that made me come” Adolf leaned forwards placing his arms folded on the table and looked at me steadily
“Who are they Maeve?” I let out a shuddery breath
“vampires” Adolf leant back quickly while Annette gasped and Will looked kind of confused. Alex growled again and stood up quickly
“I’ll kill them!” he said threateningly and went to move but his father held up a hand and he stopped, Adolf looked to me and asked
“why would vampires be at your house?”
“my father knows what I am because I attacked him and he met them and decided it would be fun to put me in a room with them but I didn’t want to be near them so I got my stuff, snuck out and came here” he regarded me closely and said
“why didn’t you tell us last night?” I raised a brow
“seriously? You’re asking me that after last night” he sighed and leant back in his seat
“I guess not, the fact is we have to deal with it because they are on our land and they have no right, I need to get the pack together and have a meeting, we’ll discuss you at the same time as well Maeve” I nodded and Adolf got up and went in the general direction of his office. Annette leant forward and gripped my hand giving it a tight squeeze and a smile
“it will be alright dear, plus this just gives more reason for you to stay with us” I nodded and she got up and started washing the plates. Will just shrugged and went back upstairs to his room; I looked at Alex who was still stood there with his fists clenched. I got up from my seat and walked around the table towards him; when I reached him I ran my hand from his elbow to his hand where I uncurled his fist and brought it to my jaw, rubbing it along there. He softened slightly and I moved closer pressing myself into his chest slightly
“Alex?” he closed his eyes and breathed deeply before looking down at me. I could see the concern, anger and protectiveness in his eyes which made my heart jump. He brought his other arm around my waist and pulled me closer to him before leaning down slightly and burying his face in my hair. I heard and felt him breathe deeply a few times before he said
“why didn’t you warn me?” I sighed
“Because I didn’t really have a chance and it’s not like I can go around telling people that there are vampires in my house” he chuckled lightly and pulled me closer though I didn’t mind as I let go of his hand and he put the around my waist as well. I put my own arms around his neck and hugged him to me
“I’m here and I’m fine, no damage, well by them anyway” he growled and I figured it was too soon to joke about it with him so I let it go and let him go as well while I took his hand and led him up the stairs.
“you need to show me where I can change” he laughed
“just change in my room” I turned towards him at the top of the stairs, he was a couple of stairs below me but this just meant that I was now eye level with him. I put my hands on my hips and glared at him
“I am not changing in your room where you could have cameras and stuff I don’t know about” he laughed and stepped up onto the landing with me and grinned
“well that leg rubbing thing this morning says you wouldn’t mind” I blushed lightly and grumbled
“you drove me to it” he chuckled and led me to his room saying
“it will be fine, just change and I’ll be right outside the door, it’s all good” I was debating that when we got to his door which he opened and motioned for me to go into while he stood in the door
“right get changed and shout when you’re finished” I nodded and he closed the door, I quickly walked over to my bag and picked out an outfit (http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=2555199) and dressed hurriedly before I called
“Alex!” the door opened quickly and Alex stepped into the room, after closing the door he turned and looked at my outfit giving me the old elevator eyes and I saw a smirk come to his face at the small amount of skin showing between my top and jeans. I rolled my eyes and said
“your turn” Alex grinned and immediately pulled his shirt over his head making my jaw drop, he was built! I groaned and Alex laughed while rubbing his abs
“like something Mae?” I glared at him
“this is payback isn’t it?” Alex chuckled before walking towards me
“you know it was but now I’m thinking that I’m torturing myself as well” I raised a brow and he wrapped a hand around my hip and pulled me flush against him, I brought my hands up to steady myself bringing them against his bare chest and I gasped at the feel of his hot skin against my palms. There was a small bead of sweat running down his collarbone and I followed it with my eyes before I leant forwards and caught it with my tongue; Alex groaned and buried his head in my hair
“that is not fair my family is in the house so I can’t do anything” I giggled at his tortured voice before I pulled away and winked
“why do you think I did it?” he growled and lunged at me but I laughed and danced out of the way before moving to the door and running out and downstairs.
