Dancing Through Life; Trying to Hide in the Shadows.

Walking into Glee after school on Monday I was slightly nervous. Today was the day I officially met everyone in Glee. And honestly, some of them scare me. *coughSANTANAcough* I took a seat in one of the empty orange chairs away from everyone else. Just cuz I was in Glee and I was out-going did not mean I didn't get self-conscious and nervous about meeting new people.

15 minutes later, everyone was in the room and Mr. Schue, as I had taken to calling Will around school, was trying to get everyone's attention. "Alright everybody! Listen up! We have a new member! Let's give a warm Glee Club welcome to Keri Michaels!" Most everybody whooped and cheered, causing me to blush scarlet. I waved. "Now, onto the assignment," Mr. Shuce started,"Everyone was to prepare a song which made them feel good. Who wants to go first?" Rachel's hand shot up immediately. I rolled my eyes, please tell me she isn't one of THOSE people.

"Mr. Schue, I've prepared a song that I'm sure everyone will love. Espicially when I sing it." She beamed and waltzed to center stage after handing Brad her sheet music. And she is one of THOSE people. Joy.....

The music started and I recognized the song as being sung by Barbara Streisand. When the music ended, Rachel stood there, a huge grin on her face. We clapped politely, it seemed like she was expecting a standing ovation or something. "That was very good Rachel," Mr. Schue smiled at her. She grinned more and sat down, back straight, eyes forward, grin still in place. Does she ever stop smiling?

"Who wants to go next?" He looked around the room and since it was obvious no one wanted to follow Rachel, I raised my hand.

"I will." He beamed. I strut towards Brad, and whispered the song to him. He smiled at me, a twinkle in his eye.

"Great song for you Keri." I smiled at him before turning and strutting to "center stage". Brad started singing the song's intro and I grinned. Thank god he knows the song!

Everyone was really into the song, dancing in their seats. Well everyone but Rachel, she was glaring at me.
Unexpectedly, Mr. Schue started singing Fatman Scoops's part. I grinned at my father figure.

I grinned as the song ended and everyone burst into applause. The guys wearing letterman jackets whooped and hollered and the girls in cheerleading outfits cat called. I felt accepted.

"Girl, where did you learn to do that?" Mercedes asked me after Glee. I grinned.

"I've been singing since I could talk and my parents always helped me perfect it. It was hard work but worth it."

"Well you've got some pipes on you. And those moves! Damn!" I laughed.

"Thanks! I loved your song. It was perfect!" She smiled.

"Well I gotta run, see you tomorrow." I waved. Looking around I noticed I was alone in the room except for the 2 boys who were obviously on some sports team. I awkwardly smiled at them before leaving the room.

On the way home Will complimented me on my song choice and voice. "It really worked for you Keri." I smiled and thanked him.

I've been in Glee Club for a week and so far I haven't had one of the famous slushie facials everyone else in Glee has endured. Granted that may be because I'm the hottest girl in McKineley who isn't a Cherrio. (Not my words, it was from some random football player in the halls who stopped me on the way to French.)

Walking into school I spotted Artie and grinned. Artie and Mercedes had quickly become my best friends and I talked to them everyday. I pulled my batman bad closer to me as I walked over to my best friend. "Hey homie, what it do?"

He laughed at me. "It's good. How was your morning so far?"

"Good. Nothing to report." He grinned and I felt tiny butterflies fluttering around in my stomach. Am I falling for my best friend?
