See You Smile

the sweetest sin

The wind brushed through her hair and she embraced it with a turn of her head.

She grinned before looking up at their hill.

He sat there obvious to all but the clouds.

She giggled lightly when she approached him, alerting him to her presence.

“Hey there, beautiful,” was his simple greeting.

“’Ello, handsome,” she said, moving to stand behind him.

She leaned down and placed her arms around his neck, letting them fall so her hands clasped together at his stomach.

He leaned back slightly to look up at her.

“Your hair’s up? But you hate that,” he stated.

She laughed. “I do, but you don’t,” she replied.

He shook his head, lowering it again. “Silly girl,” he chuckled.

“What?” she inquired.

He turned back up and reached above her. “I don’t care either way.” He gently pulled her hair from the elastic.

She laughed as her curls flew around her face.

It was his turn to question her. “What’s so funny?”

“You, dorkface,” was her reply.

She didn’t have to look at him to know the grin that spread across his face.

“What are you talking about?”

She leaned down and barely brushed her lips against his cheekbone. She pulled away, blue eyes filled with mischievousness. “Truth or dare.”

He knew the one she wanted and sighed. “Dare.”

She grinned. “Catch me for the answer,” was her reply.

With that, she took off down the hill.

He shook his head with a laugh and chased after her.

Even while stumbling in her barefeet, she ran over the rocks and leaves that littered the meadow surrounding the hill.

Though more stable, he chased her laughter.

She ran around and around the hill.

His laughter echoed hers as he attempted to catch up to her.

Though she hadn’t forgotten that he had always been faster than her, she still shrieked in surprise when his arms found her waist.

She tried to wriggle out of his embrace, but he held tight.

He chuckled at her attempts.

She turned around to face him.

He leaned forward, pressing his forehead against hers.

“Hey there, Cyclops,” she giggled.

He laughed and closed his eyes for a moment. "So what was so funny?" he asked.

She placed her arms around his neck, her face relaxing into a soft smile. “Hey, you,” she whispered.

“Hey, you,” he replied.

“Guess what?” she asked.

“What?” he inquired with a grin.

She looked into his chocolate eyes before she closed her blues with a laugh.

“What?” he repeated.

She opened her eyes and smiled, kissing his nose.

“I love you, of course."

"And I love that smile."
