I watched as the door closed behind her. Alesana let out a cry as if she now understood what was going on. I opened the envelope and read her letter first:

Kiki,
Only you could possibly inderstand why I must do this. My life with
Tommy wasn't a life at all, and you know that. I had about enough.
You've been the best friend anyone could possibly ask for and the
only thing I hate anout leaving, is leaving you. I left this for you and
baby Alesana. Take care of yourselves and always remeber, you
two girls are the loves of my life. Don't let George get this and keep
it for Alesana's college fund or something. I will be back.

I looked in the envelope again. What was she talking about. I pulled out a piece of paper and flipped it over. It was a check for $500.

I couldn't believe she did this for us. I slid it all back into the envelope and held my baby close to my heart.
