Vampires, Werewolves, and... Love? Oh My!

Surprise

I absolutely hate living in a small town. Dad knew about my broken hand before I even walked through the door. "What did you do now?" he asked when I stormed into the house.
"Punched Jacob."
My dad snorted. Yeah, thanks Dad. "Why did you do that?"
"She wouldn't shut up so I kissed her," Jake shrugged. Tell me again why he's here? He said he wanted to make sure I would be okay. I think he just wanted a chance to taunt me. Stupid werewolf.
"Yeah, and if Jake doesn't shut up then I'm gonna do more than just punch him," I snapped.
"Calm down, honey," Dad tried saying through his laughter. "It's not that big of a deal. Don't do anything drastic or you might hurt yourself again." He burst out laughing. Jacob did too until he saw me glaring at him.
"Haha. Very funny," I muttered dryly. "Well I'm going to bed before you find something else to make fun of me about. Oh, and Jacob. You know that you owe me big time, right?"
"For what?" God, he's so cute when he's confused. Wait, shut up, Lizzy.
"For ruining my day. Today was supposed to be just us girls with no interference from someone like you. Good night!" With that, I stormed up to my bedroom like a four-year-old.

*JACOB'S POV*
Lizzy stomped all the way up the stairs and slammed the door shut. "Stop staring, Jacob, or she'll realized you've got it bad for her," Bella teased. Charlie had gone into the kitchen and Emma was outside talking on her cell phone to Embry. Bella and I were alone. Before Lizzy, I would have been thrilled at the idea on being alone with Bella. But now, we were just friends, like we should've been all along. She was smiling knowingly.
"Real funny, Bells. So are you coming to La Push tomorrow?" I said to change the subject. Bella hadn't been to La Push in a while and we figured it'd be a good idea for her to come by. She'd planned it as a surprise for Lizzy and Emma to meet the rest of the pack.
"Huh? Oh, yeah. Do you think Embry can come by and get Emma so that Liz and I can go straight there after school?"
"He'd love that. I'll tell him. See you tomorrow, Bells."
I ran out of the house and down the street towards home. I shifted to a wolf as soon as I hit the cover of the trees. There were a couple others out on patrol.
*Someone seems happy,* Leah sneered.
*Shut it, Leah. It's been a while since Jake's been happy. So are they coming tomorrow?*
*Yeah, Seth. You can meet Lizzy at the bonfire. Please be nice to her, Leah.*

I could feel Leah's annoyance at me telling her what to do. It wasn't an order; just a request. But if she was going to be a bitch about it, I could easily change that. *I'm not making any promises. I'll try, but we'll have to see. Unless you WANT to use your power on me. But then I'll make being in my head even more miserable for you.*
*You win. Just don't kill her.*
*Again, no promises.*
Why is it that most of the girls I know are so damn stubborn?

*BELLA'S POV*
"Liz, you had better not kill me for tomorrow, or I'll come back and haunt you," I threatened my sleeping twin. She looked so peaceful asleep. Innocent. Like when we were kids. I guess she was still mad at Mom for getting remarried. Poor girl. She's really not as tough as she makes herself out to be. I guess she's just trying not to get hurt.
"That's not very funny." I spun around to the window quickly with my hands flying to my mouth to stifle a scream. My eyes were huge disks as they took in the sight of Edward sitting on the ledge.
"Edward. Holy crow, you scared me. What are you doing?"
"I came to ask you something. Alice just saw you three disappear. You weren't really going to go to that bonfire, were you?"
"Well if Alice saw it, it must mean that we are."
"Bella," he sighed. "Alice's visions are-"
"Subjective. I know. But we are going. Lizzy's part of this world now, too. I think she should know what I've gotten her into. Her and Emma both." My voice was a whisper when I finished. I looked down at my hands and played with my fingers. Edward pulled me into a hug and sat with me on my bed. "Why did I do this to her? How could I have been stupid enough to get my sister involved with all this?" I leaned into his chest as he rocked me. Silent tears were falling down my cheeks.
"She's going to be fine, Bella. Lizzy's a strong girl."
"I'm not so sure about that anymore. Liz is stronger than me. But she closes herself off from everybody else. She's not strong enough for all of this. I'm only strong enough because I have you. But my sister doesn't have anyone but me."
"You know that's not true, Bella. Lizzy has all of us. And that mutt is going to take good care of her, as much as I hate to give him any credit."
I laughed softly. "If he ever tells her. Lizzy isn't going to let herself get close to Jacob if he never admits how he feels first. Tomorrow, he's going to tell her that he imprinted on her or he'll have to deal with me."

*EDWARD'S POV*
For the millionth time, Bella reminded me of a furious kitten. Harmless, but thinks she can take on a dog. Well, if she wanted, I'd be more than happy to kill the mutt.
"Are you sure I can't make you change your mind?"
"Positive. But if it makes you feel better, you can drive us to the treaty line and Jake can meet us there. Will that work for you?"
I sighed. I would rather she didn't go. But if it would make Bella happy... "That's fine. I guess I'll just go hunting with Emmett and Jasper. Call me when you're ready to be picked up. Okay?"
"I promise. I'll see you at school. 'Night."

*BACK TO LIZZY*
"I am so tired. I just want to go home and crash on the couch," I said the second I slammed to door to Bella's truck.
Bella looked nervous. She dropped her back on the seat but didn't get in. "Well, actually, Emmett's going to drive the truck home and we're going with Edward."
"Going with Edward where?" I asked skeptically.
"Um. It's a surprise. Emma's already there. Will you just come on?"
"No," I replied stubbornly. “I'm not getting out of this truck until you tell me where you're taking me. And then I still might not get out."
"Lizzy," she sighed.
"Bella," I said in the same tone.
"Fine. If that's the way you want to play it. Emmett, could you help her into the Volvo, please?"
"No problem, Bella." Emmett smirked at me and my eyes grew to saucers. He easily threw me over his shoulder and pulled me out of the truck. I desperately clawed at the seat, dashboard, and seatbelt trying to get a hold of something to keep me in the car. It was no use anyway.
"Wait! What happened to me being under your protection? Don't do this, Emmett!" I looked around frantically but the parking lot was empty.
He laughed. "You are. But that doesn't apply for this. Just relax, Liz. This is for your own good."
He put me in the backseat and shut the door on my protests. I quickly turned to slide out the other side to see Alice's smiling face. The way she suddenly appeared there scared the crap out of me and I jumped a mile high. "Hi. I saw what you were going to do and decided to ride back here with you. You might as well enjoy the ride, Lizzy. It'll go by a lot quicker that way." I replied by sticking my tongue out like a little kid.
I was pretty silent for most of the car ride. The only times I spoke were when I was telling them that I would never forgive any of them. Alice shrugged each time and giggled. She knew something I didn't; like when I would stop being mad. Damn fortune teller. It wasn't until I saw the familiar car parked to the side of the road that I realized where we were headed. "JACOB?! What the hell is going on?! I hate surprises, Bella, and you know that. You’d better tell me what’s going on or else I swear that you’ll regret it."
"We're going to a barbecue," Bella answered simply, totally unfazed by my threat. "Edward and Alice are just bringing us here and Jacob's taking us to First Beach. Em's already there."
"Why don't you have to go?" I demanded of Alice.
"Not allowed. It's part of the treaty that we don't go on Quileute land. Well, have fun." Alice was smiling as she all but shoved me out of the silver Volvo. I was caught off guard and landed on the ground. I heard Jacob snickering. I turned to glare at him but wished I hadn't. Jacob was leaning on his Rabbit with his arms crossed over his bare chest and he was smirking. He looked so cool and casual that I couldn't help stare. Until I caught myself and looked away quickly. I was blushing, of course.
"Hi Jake," Bella called. She had to drag me across the invisible treaty line with me protesting all the way.
"Hey Bella. Hi Lizzy."
"I seriously hate you all." I swear I heard Alice's silver laughter as the Volvo drove away. Even Bella and Jacob chuckled at my remark.
"Yeah, we love you too," Jacob teased and I felt my cheeks get warm. Somebody please tell me why he makes me feel this way because it’s driving me crazy!
