Vampires, Werewolves, and... Love? Oh My!

When we got to the beach it was packed with mostly guys around Jacob's age. They were all freakishly huge and muscled with dark skin and no shirts. The girls that were with them had the same bronze complexion, dark eyes and black hair, but they looked so soft next to the boys. It seemed as if everyone here was paired up. Which might be why the taller girl caught my eye. She stood alone wearing only a spaghetti strap top and shorts and was gazing toward a couple that was staring lovingly at each other.
"Who's she?" I whispered to Bella, nodding toward the pretty girl.
Bella gulped. "That's Leah."
"She looks so sad. Even more depressed than me."
"Yeah." Bella didn't say anymore. She simply walked toward the group and everyone greeted her happily.
"Come on, Lizzy. Let's go." Jacob gently pulled me along in the direction of the party. "Hey guys, this is Lizzy. She's Bella's sister."
"What's up?"
"I'm Seth. I think we met at your dad’s barbecue a few weeks ago." The boy looked to be the youngest. His smile was genuinely happy and he looked so carefree. He had a huge smile that was totally infections. Seth continued to introductions. "That's Quil and his imprint Claire. She's only two right now so she's more like a little sister to him. Then there's Jared and Kim. Paul and Rachel. You already know Embry with your friend Emma. And Sam and Emily are over there." Sam and Emily were the couple that I'd seen Leah looking at. Emily was very pretty but the entire right side of her was covered in three long scars that pulled down the corner of her mouth and eye. I wonder why I hadn't noticed her before.
"And I'm Leah, Seth’s older sister. I'm the only female wolf in the pack." She wasn't smug about it. More like stating a fact- one that she wished she could change by saying it out loud. "You must be Jacob's-"
Jacob quickly covered her mouth to stop her from saying whatever she had almost let slip. "Didn't we already talk about this?" he growled.
I rolled my eyes. "I'm Lizzy. Hey Leah, you want to go down to the beach with me since we seem to be the only ones without dates?"
"What about me?" Bella whined.
"You're here with Jacob. And I'm mad at you for making me come. Just stay here with him until whoever his imprint is shows up."
Leah's eyebrows shot up and she smirked slightly. "I'd love to hang out with you, Lizzy. We can go swimming."
"Sure. Crap. I didn't bring a suit. Oh darn." Jacob's eyes grew huge at my implication. He was practically drooling, which is weird if he's already imprinted. Why would he be interested in me? "Guess I'll just have to wear my jeans." That sure wiped off his smile.
"No problem. You can borrow some clothes from me later." Leah grabbed my arm and we ran off to the edge of the beach. I faintly heard Bella calling after me, but I had already jumped into the icy water.

*LEAH*
Lizzy's actually pretty cool. Hanging out with her was the most fun I'd had in a long time. I wasn't so depressed. "Hey, what were you going to tell me on the beach? I’m Jacob’s what?”
I laughed. “Sorry, Liz, I can’t tell you. But don’t worry, you’ll figure it out soon enough.”
She pouted. “I hate that word, ‘soon’. Secrets don’t make friends and they sure suck ass.”
I laughed. We swam around in the ocean for a while in silence. “So what's your story?" she asked suddenly.
"What?"
"Something tells me that there's more than what you put off. You're hiding something. Or just trying to forget something. I'll bet it has something to do with Sam and Emily."
"Nosy much? It's none of your business."
She shrugged. "Maybe not. But you're even more antisocial than me. You know what I do when I'm upset? Well I used to cut myself but Bella's boyfriend would smell the blood and rat me out. Now I just get completely trashed. You should try it sometimes."
"Maybe I will. What about you and Jacob?"
"What about me and Jacob?" she spat back. Her cheeks were getting slightly pink.
"Well, do you like him?"
"No," she snapped defensively. "What would it matter anyway? He's imprinted." Her voice was barely above a whisper.
"Sounds like you're trying to hide something too. If you tell me your story, I'll tell you mine."
She frowned, thinking hard. "I guess that would work. I-"
"Lizzy?" Someone called. We'd been swimming and not paying attention to where we were going. We passed a group of rocks that jutted out into the ocean and cut the beach in two. On the opposite side of our bonfire was a large group of high school students from Forks High School. Lizzy groaned as she saw the boy on the surfboard that had called her.
"Fuck off, Rick. What are you guys even doing here?"
"Hanging out. You?"
"Swimming. Now leave me alone."
"Come on, Liz. Talk to me."
"No."
"Does this have anything to do with that kid you've been hanging out with?"
Her eyes narrowed dangerously. "Leave Jacob out of this. And, no, it doesn't have anything to do with him. It has to do with the fact that you are an asshole."
"Ricky," a blonde girl called. "Come over here."
"Go on, Lauren's calling you." Lizzy grabbed my arm and pulled me back to our shore.
"You okay?" I asked carefully. I knew how it felt to get your heart broken.
"Fine. I'm just getting tired of dumbass boys."
Jake was probably going to kill me for this, but I had to help her out. "Lizzy, what if I told you that you were Jacob's imprint?"
Her eyes widened and she froze. Aw, crap.

*JACOB*
Lizzy had been gone with Leah for a while. I was getting worried that I couldn't see them in the water. What if something had happened to her? Leah could probably take care of both of them but...
"Jacob, stop worrying, that's my job," Bella said. "If you just tell her, then you can worry all you want."
"Bells, you know I can't."
She sighed deeply. "Jake, if you ever want a chance with her, you've got to open up to her. That's the only way she'll ever let herself get close to anyone."
"I'll go talk to her. I can't guarantee I'll tell her though."
"Fine. Just go."
I found them lying on the sand. Lizzy looked annoyed and a little upset. Leah was looking at her carefully.
"You okay?" she asked carefully. Leah actually has a heart? Could of fooled me.
"Fine. I'm just getting tired of dumbass boys."
"Lizzy, what if I told you that you were Jacob's imprint?"
Lizzy's eyes grew wide and she froze. I stopped dead in my tracks, too. I was going to kill Leah for this. What if Lizzy never wants to see me again? What if she's afraid of me? What if...

*LIZZY*
"Lizzy, what if I told you that you were Jacob's imprint?"
I froze and my eyes got big. I was in complete shock. My heart was pounding from hope and excitement. Really? I was? Wait, what if she was just testing me to see if I liked him? What if he didn't really like me? What if it was a joke and my heart broke into a billion and a half pieces? What if... what if I actually wanted to be his imprint?
