Along The Way

Friendly Dinner

Once April left, Bailee showered and finished up laundry, carrying the bins back upstairs to put them away. Around 5 that night her phone went off and while she was expecting Bam, she got Raab.

"Hello?" She asked.

"Hey Bailee. Do you feel up to going out?"

"Going out as in where?" She asked, slightly confused.

"Just to dinner. I figured you wouldn't want to eat alone."

"Oh, yeah, sure. I can go out." She smiled.

"Okay, I'll get you around 6:30?"

"Sounds good. Nothing fancy, right?"

"No, not at all."

"Alright, I'll see you at 6:30."

"Bye Bailee!"

Bailee put on jeans (one of the few pairs that still fit her comfortably) and a nice t-shirt. She gathered up her belongings into her purse along with her phone. True to his word, Raab got her at exactly 6:30. She climbed in the passenger seat and smiled over at Raab.

"Hey, how are the kids?" He smiled.

Bailee patted her stomach. "They're good. Kicking a lot more."

"That's Bam's kids for you." He laughed.

"Yeah, they'll come out of the womb playing pranks on mom."

Raab smiled and drove to a nicer restaurant in town.

"So what's the occasion?" Bailee asked as they got out of the car.

"I just figured you would want to have a nice dinner and not be stuck at home."

"Well thank you." She smiled.

Inside the restaurant, they sat down at a booth across from one another and ordered their drinks; Raab a beer and Bailee an iced tea.

"How have you been?" Bailee asked Raab.

"I've been good. I got an apartment but I checked in on the house a few times for you guys."

"Thank you." Bailee smiled.

"I went out with your sister a few times."

Bailee paused and looked up at him. "What?"

"We went out and hung out a few times."

"Raab, you're 9 years older than she is!" She sipped her drink.

"Bam is 6 years older than you!" He said defensively.

"Okay, a decade is different than 6."

"By four years, in this case three."

"Raab, she's still a teenager basically."

"She's 21. You're 24 and pregnant with a 30 year-olds baby."

"Did you call me out to have a pissing match with me? She raised an eye brow.

"No," He sighed. "sorry. I just wanted to talk to you."

"Avery is not pregnant, is she?" Bailee's eyes widened.

"See, that's where we have a problem."

Bailee choked on her iced tea. "You got my baby sister pregnant!?"

"I was joking!" He laughed and brought his hands up to defend himself from a smack on the arm.

"You jerk! I actually believed you!"

"We haven't even had sex yet." He laughed.

"Yet?! You're planning to?"

"We haven't even discussed it, don't worry."

"So help me God, if you get my sister pregnant, I will cut your penis off and feed it to Murph."

Raab laughed and held her hand across the table so she wouldn't hit him again. "I'm only messing with you."

Halfway through dinner, one of the babies started to kick. Bailee moved to sit directly next to Raab so he could feel. She placed his hand on the spot the baby had hit and his face lit up with excitement."

"I cannot wait for these babies." He smiled and rubbed her belly.

"I think everyone feels that way." She smiled back.
