Make Me Better

Chapter 33

The doorbell rang and I got off the couch quickly, before I could even take one step my dad was walking out his room and to the door. I rolled my eyes and watched from the living room as he swung open the door.

"Hello, Mr. S." Frank greeted, a smile forming on his lips. I walked over to them and nudged my dad.

"Hi, come in." He took a step back to let Frank walk in. He shot me a smile as he walked passed me. Frank went over to sit on the couch, I followed and leaned against the arm rest. My dad stood in front of us, glancing at Frank every so often.

"My daughter tells me you two are going out." He finally said after some moments of silence. I wanted so say something but I knew he would shoot me down.

Frank nodded, "Yeah, we are."

"Why?" My dad questioned.

"Dad, I told you-"

"I'm talking to Iero." I sighed and glared at him as he ignored me.

"I love your daughter, sir." Oh, no. He said he loved me. My dad stayed silent as thought over Frank's words.

"You're in love with her? Olive didn't tell me that." He looked over at me with an annoyed look, "Do you love him?" He asked, staring directly at me. I wanted to go hide in my room and never come out.

"Dad." I sighed.

"Come on, answer me. I have a right to know these things."

"Yes, I love Frank."

My dad rolled his eyes, "You're only a kid. I doubt you know what love is."

"Dad, what are you trying to do? Make me break up with Frank?"

"No, actually. Olive, give us some time alone, will you?" My dad asked. I stared at him for a moment, he was actually being serious.

"No, why do you need to be alone?" I questioned quickly.

"It's fine, Oli." Frank reassured. I looked at my dad, he looked way too serious. Which worried me. This wasn't that big of a deal.

"Fine, only five minutes. I don't care if you're done talking." I said a little bit to harshly. I walked into my room and flopped onto my bed. After sitting there for some seconds I stood back up and went to my door, trying my hardest to try and hear what they were saying. It was no use, I couldn't hear a single thing. I paced my room while I kept glancing at my clock. Time was going by so slow. I bet my dad was trying to scare him away.

I felt like I was in my room for an eternity. My door swung open and I turned around quickly. My dad was standing there, not looking very pleased.

"What happened?" I asked quickly.

"Nothing, just asked him some things. Told him I would chop him into pieces if he ever hurt you in any sort of way."

"Ok, and? Why do you look so sad?"

"He's a good kid. Or at least I think he is."

"That doesn't explain why you look so bummed." I raised an eyebrow.

"You're just growing up too fast, kiddo." He reached out to ruffle up my hair. I laughed a little.

"I am not." I shook my head.

"You're in love, I think that's growing up."

"Dad, don't be dramatic." I smiled up at him, he laughed and pulled in for a hug. He hugged my tightly and I tried to get out of his reach, since he was breaking my ribs with his super tight grip.

"Just don't get married any time soon." He muttered in a warning voice.

"Ew, no way!" I laughed, "You don't have to worry about that." He finally let me go and mumbled something about Frank still being in the living room.

"So, that means you approve?" I asked quietly.

He nodded reluctantly, "I made him promise me that he would never have sex with you." I shook my head and walked away from my dad who was chuckling lightly.

"I'm being serious, Olive. If he does I'll kill him and then I'll kill you." He said as I walked even faster, not wanting to have that sort of conversation.

"Whatever, daddy-o."

I walked into the living room and saw Frank, still sitting on the couch.

"He didn't hit you or anything, right?" I teased.

"No, he was actually really nice. Minus the whole I'll cut your eyeballs out and throw you into a ditch part."

I furrowed my eyebrows, "Did he really say that?"

"Yup." Frank nodded, unfazed.

I became slightly embarrassed, "Sorry."

"It's fine, He didn't scare me away." Frank laced his hand with mine and pulled me onto the couch with him.

"Stop touching." My dad walked into the living room, he was giving Frank an evil glare. I let out a deep sigh, "Dad, go away." He didn't seem to be listening to me at all. Frank let go of my hand and I frowned.

"He was holding my hand, not that big of a deal, dad."

He turned his glare to me, " I know what holding hands leads to, missy!" I glanced over at Frank, he had the smallest smile playing on his lips.

"Ok, sorry. Can Frank and I go...out?"

"To where, Olive?"

"To go see Lindsey."

"Fine, be home by 10;30. Not any later." Dad warned, he seemed to calm down and then he smiled at me, "And no touching, or I'll murder your boyfriend." I reached to grab Frank's hand but then recoiled when my dad coughed obnoxiously.

I stood up and looked over at Frank, he led the way out of my house.

"I'm sorry about him." I mumbled as I laced my hand with Frank's.

"It's fine, stop apologizing." Frank laughed, he leaned over to kiss my cheek causing me to smile.

"You're not even off my front lawn and you're already breaking my rule." I turned around to see my dad, standing tall on the porch.

"Sorry," I grinned cheekily, I moved away from Frank a bit, " Go back inside, dad."

"You're a stubborn one, Olive." Dad said, shaking his head.

"Just like you, see you later, dad." I walked quickly to catch up with Frank, who was trying to control his laughter.

"It isn't funny."

"Yeah, it is." He continued to laugh as we made our way to his car. Ok, it might have been a bit funny. But it was mostly annoying. I've had a boyfriend before and even then my dad didn't act so protective.

Frank snapped me out of my thoughts, "Are we really going to Lindsey's?"

"No, wouldn't you rather make out?" I asked teasingly.

"As much as I love you, I have a feeling your dad would find out and then proceed to kill me. So, no."

"My dad scares you?" I scoffed.

"He's huge, Oli. Who wouldn't be scared?"

"Fine, fine. Let's go hang out with the guys."

"Much better idea." Frank unlocked his car and I got in quickly. I had a feeling my dad was still watching us. And I was right. I looked back onto the porch and there he was, staring into our direction.

Frank went into another laughing fit, "Your dad is crazy."

"I know!" I exclaimed softly.

"It's only because he loves you."

I scoffed once again, "If I had a daughter, I would never, and I mean NEVER, act like does. He's way too protective.

"If I had a daughter, I would act the same exact way he's acting right now."

"She's going to hate you."

Frank shrugged, "I would only be looking out for her." We passed my dad and I waved at him, he stayed still and mouthed "No touching." It was really starting to get silly, at first I wondered if he was being serious. It wasn't like holding hands and couple kisses was anything bad.

"Well, I don't see it that way. He's only being really annoying."
