Make Me Better

Chapter 45

"This is my buddy's house." Cooke said when I gave him a questioning look. I only nodded and filled the red cup up to the brim with beer. I glanced over my shoulder once more. I looked over and Cooke and he was smirking,

"What do you look so worried over, love?" He asked. I ignored his chuckle and turned around as I started to walk away.

"Just leave me alone, ok?" I said over my shoulder, but Cooke wasn't looking at me, he was looking ahead of me at Frank. I grumbled and walked faster, I handed the beer to Frank, who thanked me and kissed my cheek sloppily.

I couldn't help but feel a bit nervous, Cooke was so unpredictable and crazy. I had no clue what he had up his sleeve. Or I could just be paranoid, he might just leave me alone. What was I thinking? Of course he wasn't going to leave me alone. I thought about telling Frank, but I didn't see the point in it because Cooke hadn't really done anything and Frank was a bit drunk, I'm pretty sure he would overreact to the whole situation. So, I tried to forget all about Cooke and try to enjoy myself. That was until I had to pee. I walked through the rowdy people and towards the bathroom. Where a visible line was forming, I groaned and got behind everyone else.

"I have too pee too, " He rolled his eyes when I glared at him. I turned back around quickly. Trying my hardest to not turn back around.

"So," he started, in his smooth voice, "Are you here with that kid?" I turned slightly and leaned against the wall, I peeked at Cooke, who was pointing at Frank. I looked over at Frank who seemed to be in a deep conversation with Bob.

"Why does it matter?" I asked, crossing my arms over my chest.

He shrugged a shoulder and ran a hand through his messy hair, "Just want to make sure." What was that supposed to mean?

"What?" My voice sounded annoyed.

"If you aren't with the kid then that gives me a go to kiss you at midnight, right?" He asked, smirking down at me.

I scowled at him, he was so unbelievable, I turned and walked into the bathroom, "I thought I told you to leave me alone." I said over my shoulder before slamming the door. When I was done, I was sort of expecting to see Cooke standing there but he wasn't. I sighed in content as I made my way back.

Frank had sobered up for the most part, but he still found the smallest things really funny, which was really cute. Gerard and rest of the group had went outside to smoke, while Frank and I stayed inside. I glanced at a clock to the further right. It was 11:50. Surely, Cooke had to know that I was with Frank. He's only trying to mess with your head, Olive. I thought silently as I looked over at Frank.

"It's almost next year!" I shook Frank's shoulders playfully. He grinned at me before wrapping his arms around my waist. He buried his face in my neck and I lazily played with his dark locks. I looked over my shoulder slowly, trying to see if the rest of group had come back yet. Instead of catching a glimpse of my friends, I caught a glimpse of Cooke, much to my dismay. He wasn't looking at me, he was chatting away with some girl while smoking a cigarette. I shuffled closer to Frank and wrapped my arms around his neck tightly.

"Are you trying to smother me?" He chuckled, I laughed softly and pulled away from slightly, giving him more space.

"I have to pee." Frank mumbled, standing up onto his wobbly feet. He let go of me and I grabbed his arm quickly,

"But its almost midnight." I protested. One, he couldn't leave because then I would be all alone. Two, I was sort of weary of what Cooke would do.

"I'll be back in a minute. Don't worry." He kissed my cheek before heading to the bathroom. I felt a bit awkward as I stood there alone, I looked up at the clock. Only a minute and half left. If Frank didn't hurry up, I was going to kick his ass.

I crossed my arms over my chest as I saw Lindsey skip over to me, I smiled at her.

"Where's lover boy?" She asked with a wink.

"Peeing."

She rolled her eyes, "He better hurry up, or someone else might give you your midnight kiss."
My eyes widened at the thought but I laughed it off, "Yeah, right." In the back of my head I was pretty sure Cooke wouldn't pull anything on me if I was around my friends, right? But I wasn't around my friends. Lindsey soon marched off to find Gerard and that only left Bob and I, who was dozing off while he leaned up against a bookshelf.

The countdown started and I had two choices, stay here with a drunk Bob or attempt to find Frank. I went with my second choice. It was harder to make my way through the people since they were all bunched up in the middle of the room, counting down. I was almost to the bathroom when I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist. At first I thought it was Frank, so I turned happily. But the body was too tall, it was definitely not Frank.

But it wasn't Cooke either, it was Ray, "Where's Bob?" He asked. I pointed behind me,

"Why? You planning to make out with him at midnight?" I winked as I started to walk away.

"Oh, shut up! Go find your midget!" He laughed. I only had ten seconds left and I sort of gave up once it got to 5. I stood off to the corner of the room, spotting out Gerard and Lindsey who were already kissing, causing me to roll my eyes.

"One, Happy new year!" I heard everyone scream.

One second I was watching over the crowd of people and searching for my friends and the next, I was pinned against the wall with a warm body pressed against my own.
