Make Me Better

Chapter 67

I waited outside the venue, looking over my shoulder, hoping to see Lindsey. I just wanted to go home, even if running away from the problem wasn't going to solve anything. I figured we both needed time to calm down.

"Totally made him jealous." Lindsey smiled at me, nudging me slightly. I nodded and returned the smile. Derek, Lindsey, and I all headed back to Jersey together. I wondered if Frank would be mad when he realized that I just left without telling him. Dad and Mom were cuddled up on the couch, it made me feel happy that they were back to normal. I walked into my room, and shut the door, kicking off my shoes and jumping into bed.

The next morning, I had forgotten that Frank and I weren't on good terms. So when I got to school, I decided to ignore him. I hated getting into fights, I never knew how to approach them and make them go away. We were fighting over something so stupid, and I just wanted it to go away.

Mikey appeared next to my locker, "You ignoring Frank?" He asked. I closed my locker and rolled my eyes.

"What are you talking about?"

"He was pretty fired up yesterday said something about getting into an argument with you."

"Ok." I nodded.

"You should talk to him during lunch, you two argue over the smallest things."

"I know." I groaned, I wasn't really in the mood for Mikey to be preaching to me. I knew that I had to fix this, and I didn't need any reminding.

"Don't let something small ruin your relationship." When did Mikey become Dr. Love? I decided to take Mikey's advice, I was going to talk to Frank during lunch. Hopefully, he would be understanding and just accept my apology.
Lindsey and Gee's relationship was none of our business so it didn't make any sense that we were in an argument over it.
So after 4th period, I made my way towards the outside patio, where we usually hung out. I figured there was neither a good or bad way to approach this, I would just say I was sorry and hope that we could get over this stupid thing.

"Olive, hey." I jumped a little in surprise, Brian appeared beside me. I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't even see him approach me.

"Hi." I smiled, slowing down.

"I was wondering if you could help me with english paper, the one that's due next friday?" He asked, smiling brightly.

"Yeah, ok." I nodded.

"When are you free?" He asked.

"Whenever, really." I shrugged.

"How about tomorrow after school?"

"That sounds good." I replied. By the time we were done talking we had made it outside. I could spot our table, Mikey and Frank were sitting there eating their lunch.

"Alright, I'll see you tomorrow." I said before walking over to our lunch table. Mikey glanced up when I got closer, he smiled at me proudly.
Frank didn't even glance in my direction. He kept his gaze on his food. I took a deep breath,

"Can I talk to you please?" I asked. Frank pushed his tray away from him, grabbed his backpack and stood up. He started walking towards the building, I glanced over at Mikey who motioned me towards Frank. I let out a sigh and jogged over to Frank. When we finally made it into the building, Frank turned around to face me.

"What do you want to talk about, Olive?"

"I'm sorry about yesterday." I said, I couldn't look up at Frank because I had suddenly become nervous. He was more upset looking than I expected.

I heard people coming down the stairs so I decided not to say anything until they left the building.

"I saw them after 4th. I think he asked her out, he was saying something about meeting tomorrow after school. Anyway, she said yes. Isn't she with Frank?" The voice sounded oddly familiar, it was one of Jenna's friends.

"What the hell? So now she's after Brian?" Came Jenna's annoying voice. "What a bitch." They walked out the building without even noticing us. I kept my eyes on my shoes. Isn't that great? Now Jenna thinks I'm after her ex-boyfriend.

"Were they talking about you?" Frank asked, raising any eyebrow.

"Probably."

"Probably?" He questioned, "So you agreed to go on a date with Brian?" He raised his voice.

"No." I shook my head quickly, "he asked me if I could help him with his english paper and I said yes."

"So, you're gonna hang out with this kid alone?" I sighed, I was only trying to apologize for the whole Lindsey and Gee thing and now we were getting into an argument about something totally different.

"Well, not really." I said quickly, "I'm going to help him with his paper, that's all."

"Not really?"

I groaned, he wasn't getting it. I was only going to help Brian with something school related. Frank was acting as if I was going to make out with the kid behind the bleachers.

"I came to apologize about yesterday so don't start, Frank."

"Don't start? I'm just asking-"

"I'm helping him with a freaking paper! I don't like him, ok? So there isn't anything to worry about."

"Does he like you?" Frank asked.

I sighed, "How the heck would I know?!" I snapped. "Even if he did, he didn't ask me on a date, ok? Are you jealous or something?"

Frank laughed, "Jealous of that kid?"

"Well, what is it then? It isn't big deal."

"Yeah," He nodded, "Definitely not a big deal. I'm going to head to class." And with that he turned around walked up the stairs. I scoffed loudly, hoping he would hear me.
What the hell was his problem?
