Make Me Better

Chapter 72

"I think the voting was rigged, I should have won prom king." Frank muttered as we walked out the venue, hand in hand. I giggled softly and snuggled into his side.

"Totally, Frank."

"You don't think so?" He scoffed, dropping my hand quickly. I furrowed my eyebrows as I looked over at him. A huge smile spread across his face.

"Well, sure. I would vote for you, but we're not very popular." I shrugged, "Maybe if you were the star quarter back, you would have won." I smiled.

"I'm too lanky for football."

"I know." I laughed.

"So,it's still pretty early, what do you wanna do?" He asked, wrapping an arm around my shoulders. After they announced prom king and queen, we decided to leave. We danced for the most part, which was surprising but it was also nice. For the other half of the night, we sat and made fun of people who we didn't like, which was also nice.

"I dunno," I shrugged, "What's there to do?"

"We can drive around until we figure something out." Frank mumbled into my hair, making me chuckle. I nodded in approval. Frank didn't turn the radio on first thing, which was a bit surprising. It was quiet for a while, but it was peaceful.

"So, have you been accepted to any colleges yet?" He asked. I looked over at him, not answering right away.

"Um, no, but I only applied to two, so yeah. I nodded, "I'm pretty sure I'm just going to go to community college and then just transfer, I'm still not sure what I want to major in." I was content with my answer, it was pretty solid. I also had to go find a part time job. If I had it my way, I would move out of my parent's house right after graduation but that was impossible.

"Your mom still mad at you?" I asked him.

He chuckled, "Yeah, she won't talk to me but I know she'll come around." I figured I should ask about us, and how things would be when he would go off and tour. I didn't want to give him the impression that I was doubting our relationship but I just wanted to make sure we were both on the same page.

"So.." I started off, playing with the fabric at the bottom of my dress, "how are things going to be when you're touring and I'm stuck in school?"

"Gee wants to work on some music, so we probably won't be touring for a good while. When we do tour, we'll just have to manage."

"Unless..." He started.

"No, no. That's fine, it sounds good." I cut him off. I didn't want to be away from Frank, ever. But I had to figure what I was going to do with my life and I couldn't center my whole life around a boy. I'm pretty sure it would get hard and I would get annoyed, but I wasn't going to complain about it because the boys deserve to get their names out there.

"I sort of want to be a veterinary assistant or something." I mumbled after a moment of silence.

"That seems cool, " He smiled at me, "But are you sure you can handle that?"

"I'd be helping animals," I smiled.

"Sometimes you might not be able to help them, what happens when they die?" I frowned.

"Well, that's inevitable. I would still be helping animals." I scoffed, "I think that's what I'm going to do, I love animals and what a great way to show it than to help them when they're sick or hurt?"

"Aw," Frank started, "You sound so excited.

"I am! I finally know what I want to do." I smiled.

"Well, I'm happy for you, Oli."
