The Devil's Pawn

Ch. 21

I pushed him off, bracing my hands on his shoulders. “No. We are not doing anything in the restroom of a library.”

Trenton ignored me, his hands moving down my body. He wasn’t in his right mind. I
needed to make him stop. I needed to get out of the situation before anything bad happened.

That wasn’t in Trenton’s mind of thought. His hands trailed slowly down my sides as he
pressed his lips against the base of my neck. I sucked in a deep, shaky breath as he back to
playfully suck at the skin there.

He slipped his fingers into the belt loop of my jeans, pulling my hips closer to him. Even
without light, I could tell he had a devious smirk across his lips. He leaned in close, his lips
brushing my ear as he whispered three little words that sent my heart into overdrive.

“I want you.”

I bit my lip, tilting my head back, “N-No.”

He pressed my hips against his tighter, pushing his own forward slightly. My fingers
curled around the folds of his shirt barely.

Trenton rocked our hips slowly back and forth. I bit my lip, straightening out my fingers.
Palms flat against his chest, I pushed forward.

“Let me go!” I hissed.

Trenton backed away,

“Calm down. It’s not like I’m fucking raping you.” He laughed, finding this humorous. I
narrowed my eyes, a useless act in the dark.

“Yet.”

“I would never.” His lips moved to the corner of my mouth. “You’ll want it too much for it
to be considered that.”

“Not right now.” I pulled his hands off of my hips, moving away. Blindly, I felt across the
wall for the light switch.

Trenton cringed from the sudden brightness. I stood on the opposite side of the small
bathroom from him, arms crossed. He really knew how to push my buttons in all the wrong
ways. I was seething in anger.

“Do whatever business you have to do. We’re leaving.”

“Finally.” He mumbled.

I ignored him, opening the door and walking out.

Thankfully, there hadn’t been anyone around the bathroom as I walked out. Hopefully no
one had heard us inside.

I walked over to the table we had previously been sitting at. Why had I thought that the
library would sober him up? He was Trenton. He was almost never fully sober. I took the
book I had forced him to read, putting it on the return shelf. I pushed our chairs in, leaning
against the table as I waited for him with crossed arms.

Trenton opened the door a few minutes later, walking out with a look of relief spread out
on his face.

He grinned stupidly, laughing.

“What?”

“You’ve got a little…something on your face…”

I brought my hand up skeptically, not sure how much I believed the stoned boy.
Hesitantly, I asked, “Where is it?”

Trenton pointed with his finger.

I moved my hand to brush under my eye, “Did I get it?”

“Here,” He moved closer, swiping his thumb underneath my eye, higher than I had
originally tried. Trenton swiped across once more before pressing his lips quickly against
mine. I cringed, making a face.

“No!” I hissed as soon as he pulled away.

Trenton cocked his head to the side with an adorable grin on his face. I narrowed my
eyes, turning on my heel and walking away to the exit.

I could hear his loud steps following behind me.

I grabbed the keys out of my pocket, getting into the driver’s door. Trenton pouted as he
got into the passenger seat.

“Why are you so pissy today?”

“I’m not pissy, I’m annoyed with you.” I said, not turning the car on. “I can’t believe you
today, Trenton. I really can’t.”

“I didn’t do anything.”

“What if you had died?!” I turned my body to face him, my eyes wide. “You don’t even
know what you took today. What if you die?”

He shrugged, not saying anything.

“That’s why I’m angry.” I mumbled, looking away, “You need to think about what you’re
doing more often.”

“You’re worried about me?” He asked, sounding rather sober.

Now it was my turn to shrug and not say anything.

I refused to meet his eyes.

Trenton sighed, leaning back in his seat, “If I’d have known you would’ve freaked like
this, I wouldn’t have done any of it.”

I snorted, rolling my eyes. It didn’t take a genius to guess that I would yell at him for
mixing drugs. I shook my head, not wanting to talk about it anymore. Starting the car, I
casually ran my hand over my eye, collecting the extra water that had formed.

“Let’s just go home.” I mumbled, pulling out.

Trenton nodded, closing his eyes, “I’m really sorry, Taylor-bear.”

“I’ll believe that when you’re sober.”

“I am.”

“No you’re not.”

“…Ok.”

I didn’t say anything else to him the rest of the ride back to our street.

Though, somewhere in there, Trenton’s hand found its way onto my leg. He rubbed
small circles with his thumb. I left it there for the remainder of the ride.

“So I was thinking of going bowling tonight.” Erica stated the next day at lunch. It was
silent at the table save for her talking.

Fits looked up, frowning, “Why tonight?”

“It’s a Tuesday.” Tanner pointed out.

Erica shrugged, “Why not? I’m bored. I haven’t gone bowling in what feels like forever. It
could be fun.”

“I can think of other fun things to do.” Fits muttered suggestively. Trenton chuckled next
to him under his breath.

The seating arrangement at the table had changed. Instead of Trenton sitting on the
same side as I did, it was now all three boys on one side with the two girls on the other.
Erica spawned the change, and I wasn’t one to object.

Erica shot him a look, “I’m being serious. We don’t need your innuendos at the moment,
Fits, so shut up.”

He held up his hand innocently, “A simple ‘be quite’ would have sufficed.”

I held back a giggle, taking a bit of the taco in front of me.

Erica turned to me, “Taylor, wouldn’t you like to go bowling with me? Actual bowling this
time.” She held back a smirk.

“I’d love to but it’s a Tuesday.”

“So?”

“I can’t go out on school nights.”

She groaned, “Tell your mom it’s a study date.”

“But…”

“Taylor!” She whined, “Please!”

“Sorry, Erica.”

She pouted, crossing her arms. I held back a snicker, stuffing my face with food instead.
I glanced up to see Trenton looking at me. My eyes quickly moved back to the tray of food in
front of me instead.

“Guys, I want to do something tonight!”

“I can think of someone you can do instead.” Fits smirked.

“Come on, I’m eating!” I groaned, flicking some of my cheese at him. He grinned
innocently, brushing the cheese off his shoulder.

“Sorry, Taylor.”

I rolled my eyes.

“What if we did get a ‘study group’ together tonight?” Erica asked hopefully.

“Absolutely no studying would be going down.” I mumbled under my breath.

“Oh, relax, Taylor.” She sighed, “I just want to do something. We could invite a few
people over, maybe smoke a few bowls, watch a movie or something.”

I made a face, “I’ll pass.”

“Fine. You don’t have to smoke any bowls. But wouldn’t it be nice to hang out tonight?”

“I’d go,” Tanner started, “But I’m flat out broke. I can’t afford anymore bud for a few
weeks now.”

“Cause you smoked so much last time.” Trenton smirked.

I crossed my legs under the table, finding the topic mildly uncomfortable to listen to. I
wasn’t like these people. I didn’t do drugs.

Fits smirked proudly, “Don’t worry guys. I know a guy who can give me a real good deal
on this shit.”

“Really?” Tanner asked skeptically.

He nodded.

“Can you get it by tonight?” Erica asked.

Fits nodded again.

“Awesome.” She grinned, “So it’s on. We’ll have a ‘study group’ at my house. B.Y.O.B.”

“B.Y.O.B?” I asked.

“Bring your own booze.” Trenton clarified.

“Oh.”

“And Taylor?” She asked

“Yeah?”

“You’re coming.” Erica grinned at me.

“I don’t think that’s such a good idea.”

“Why?”

“I’ll be a drag for you guys.”

Tanner smirked, whispering something in Trenton’s ears. Trenton laughed, shaking his
head in agreement.

Erica ignored the boys, her attention on me, “No you won’t. Trust me, even if you’re the
only sober person here, it’ll be fun.”

“I…”

“Why don’t you ask your mom if you can sleep over? I’ll talk to her if you need me to
again.” Erica said hopefully, “We can say we have a huge project in AP whatever the hell you
take that is due the next day.”

“I don’t think it’ll work.”

“Please?” She begged, giving me the puppy-dog eyes.

“Erica…”

“Please, Taylor, please! I hardly ask you for anything!” She was getting a little dramatic. I
held back a giggle, nodding.

“Alright. I’ll ask, but I highly doubt I’m going to be allowed to.”

“Doesn’t matter to me. If you can’t sleep over, tell her the project is incredibly important
to get done and you have to come over.”

“Alright…” I really didn’t think my mother would believe me or allow me to sleep over at
Erica’s especially on a school night, but I would try nonetheless.

Erica looked at the three boys across from us, “I’m going to assume you three are in?”

“Sleep over? Hell yes.” Fits winked at her.

She rolled her eyes, “No. Just for a few hours.”

Trenton shrugged, “Sure. We’re game.”

“Fits, can you tell Ian and the gang to come over too? It’ll be much more fun that way. Or
do you think you won’t get enough bud for that many people?” She asked, sounding rather
worried at the second part.

Fits smiled confidently, “I’ll be able to afford enough. You guys better pay me back
eventually, though. And I’ll let Ian know it’s a B.Y.O.B and W”

“W?” I asked

“Weed.”

“Oh.”

“Taylor, don’t think of not coming. I will go down to your house and beg your parents if I
must for you come for a few hours. Trust me, girl, you’re going to love it.”

I smiled nervously, “I’m sure I will.”

The four of them shared a look I couldn’t pick up on. I brushed it off, finishing the rest of
my taco in silence while they planned out the party for tonight.

Weed and beer?

I really didn’t want to go.

My eyes stayed on the tray the rest of the lunch period.

I could feel Trenton’s eyes trained on me.

I refused to meet his.
