A Not So Welcome Homecoming

Isabelle Hayden has everything she could ever want while living in New York: wealthy parents, so many friends she can barely count, numerous credit cards, and an amazing boyfriend. However, when Mommy and Daddy decide to fly her to Malibu, California, her hometown in hopes to "bond" with her grandmother and catch up with old friends, Isabelle is not exactly ecstatic. For the whole three months of summer, Isabelle is requested to spend time with her grandmother while helping her work in a retirement home.

Meanwhile, Isabelle runs into an old childhood best friend, Lukas Reynolds, whom she hasn't spoken to for about five years after she left California. The moment when Lukas first sees Isabelle again, he knows she's not the same...and not in a good way. As much as Lukas tries to get Isabelle to relive the moments they shared when they were little, she tries to convince him that she's not the dorky little girl he used to know.

By the end of her "vacation", Isabelle begins to question whether she should stay in Malibu, the city of beaches and sunshine, or fly back to New York City, the city of labels and fashion.
