Let It Shine

Cameron's POV

Today is the first day of school. I am officially a sophomore. I am so nervous. Will I get me first girlfriend? Will I be popular? There is so much I'm thinking about. Well here I go. I took a deep breath and stepped out on the car. Now to start a new year. I wondered of in the campus stopping by to talk to friends I haven’t seen since school ended.

"Cam wait up!" Zach called for me

"Hey Zach" I said as he caught up.

"So you ready for this year?" he asked very excited

"No not really" I said

"Don’t be nervous, think of this as a new opportunity" he said

"New opportunity hu... so you’re going to give yourself a chance with a girl?" I asked

"No, that different" he said quietly and looked down. Crap I shouldn’t have brought that up I just ruined his good mood. We walked in silence. I didn’t say anything because I know I would end up saying something wrong.

"I just spotted the hottest guys in the school!" I heard Kira shout from behind us. We turned around and she pulled us in for a group hug. We talked for a while and then headed to our classes. We have no classes together this year but at least we have the same lunch.

Each class went by the same. First we teachers would introduce themselves, then they would talk about the class and the rules, then we had to fill in a personality worksheet, supposedly so they can get to know us better, then a text book scavenger hunt, I’m really starting to hate those. I think all the teachers had planned out the same thing. The only teacher who was different was my P.E teacher. In that class I made a new friend. I got so bored in fourth period that I broke rule number one; no phones. I send Zach a text message.

To Zach: help!!!

From Zach: whats wrong!?

To Zach: school is driving me insane!!

From Zach: yeah me too! So tired of doing the same thing class after class

To Zach: oh you got those too

From Zach: so you got those stupid worksheets. I am tired of writing about myself and them "turn to page 2. Whats on the page. Then tour to page 90" ugh so annoying!

To Zach: just 30 more min till lunch

From Zach: oh don’t remind me

To Zach: im so hungry

And he never texted back

We are now in lunch sitting in "our" table each of us complaining about our day. Then I saw my new friend sitting alone a few tables down.

"Hey Nathan!" I called his name and motioned him to come over with sit with us.

"This is my friend Nathan, we met in P.E. Nathan those are my best friends Kiara and Zachary but you can call them Kira and Zach" I introduced them. Kira and Zach waved hi.

"So how was your first day at Poway High so far?" I asked

"It was ok" Nathan answered

"Wait you’re new?" Kira asked

"Well I’m a freshman" Nathan said

"Then welcome... friend" Zach said

"Friends" Nathan said and smiled. After all the awkwardness gone we had a great time.

Finally school is over and now I'm home. I ate a small snack and then took a small nap.

Kiara's POV

My day was ok kind of boring until I saw someone I wished I would never see again. I saw Rob. I saw him smirking at me. I was so scared when I saw him, I still am! But at the same time I felt mad at what he did to me and Zach. Now I understand him perfectly on why he doesn’t want a relationship. I am scared he is going to go after me. His friends constantly remind me every time possible he is going to have his revenge. I am scared at what he could do. I am not sure if I should tell the guys. Should I tell them? No I think I’ll just keep it to myself. I can’t have Cameron and Zach do everything for me.

I called Cameron but he didn’t answer his phone so I watched some TV. I was watching What I Like About You. About an hour later I got a text from an unknown number

From ???: you think you safe but you arent and we will get you!!!

Shit! Shit! Shit! What am I going to do now? I’m so scared. I know this has to do with Rob. What did I do to deserve this? I kept rereading the text over and over again. It’s going to be so hard to keep this from the guys because I still don’t plan on telling them about this. They don’t need more problems because of me. This is my battle and it’s up to me to end this. Few minutes later I got a call from an unknown number

"H-hello" I said in a shaky voice

"Its Cam" the moment he said that I sighed in relief

"You have no idea how glad I am to hear your voice" I said

"Are you ok you seem nervous?" he asked

"I-I'm fine" I said. Shit I stuttered

"You shuddered something is wrong" he said

"Don’t worry I will be fine" I said trying to reassure him and myself

"I don’t believe you but you clearly won’t tell be but I’ll find out... so do you want to hang out?" he said

"Yeah meet me at Zach's lawn" I said

"See ya there" he said and hung up. We met at Zach's lawn and went to the door and his mom answered

"You guys don’t have to knock just come right in" she said

"We'll remember that" Cameron said

"Is Zach home?" I asked

"He is in his room, I’m not sure if he is sleeping though it’s kind of quiet, but you guys are free to go up" she said and we walked up stairs. On our way to Zach's room Vic was coming down and we said hi. We walked in his room and we found him peacefully sleeping.

"Awww he looks so cute" I said

"Should we wake him?" Cameron asked

"No we can’t wake him he looks like a little baby sleeping" I said

"Fine but he better wake up soon" he said. I couldn’t help it and I took out my phone and took a picture and Cameron called me a creep. I laid down on Zach's couch and Cameron sat on his bean bag chair. We whispered about things until his mom came in.

"I brought you some snacks...why didn’t you wake Zach up?" she asked

"Thanks for the snacks and I couldn’t wake him he looks so peaceful" I said. She walked over to him and gently touched the side of his face

"Yeah he looks adorable but you could use any of his stuff I’m sure he won’t mind" she said and walked out leaving the tray of snacks on the side of his bed

"That was so cute! Did you see the way she touched him that was so sweet!" I whisper-yelled. Zach and his mom have the cutest son-mother relationship

"Yeah you could tell she cares about him" Cameron said

"Do you think Zach would ever hate us if we kept something big from him?" I asked

"I hope it won’t go that far that he hates us but he will probably hurt and disappointed at us why do you ask" Cameron said

"It’s just- I would hate to have him hate me I-I really care about him...it would break my heart if he looked at me with hate" I said. Would he hate me for not telling him about Rob?

"What could you do possibly do for him to hate you?" he asked

"I don’t know..." my voice trailed off as I said that

"Zach could never hate you he cares too much about you" he said

"I care about him too" I said looking at his face

"Can I tell you a secret?" I asked

"Of course" he said

"I got revenge on Zach's exes" I said

"Really? Well if you’re worried he will hate you for that I'm sure he won’t" he said. He heard Zach move little and we looked at him

"Let’s go stare at his face I bet he will get freaked out when he sees us" I said. I think he felt us stare at him because I could tell he was getting uncomfortable. A few minutes later and he opened his eyes.

"Woah" he said waking up to seeing our faces close to his starring at him.

"Morning cutie" I said

"How long have you guys been here?" Zach asked yawning and rubbing his eyes.

"For like 20 minutes" I said

"Weirdoes!" he exclaimed then asked, "Why didn’t you guys wake me?"

"Because you looked too cute sleeping and I couldn’t wake you" I said shyly and he blushed.

A while after Zach woke up he convinced us to go to the arcade. I didn’t feel like going but after looking at the pleading blue eyes of Zach and Cameron's green eyes I couldn’t resist.

I had so much fun at the arcade. We wasted all our money trying to play pool. We kept trying and trying we really failed at that game. Once we stepped out of the arcade it felt so peaceful and so quiet, it’s because in the arcade it’s SO loud.

Now we are in Zach's back yard with his guitar. He finally sort of learned how to play the guitar.

"See Zach I told you, you could do it" I said.

"Thanks for believing in me" he said

"Always" I said

"Now to learn a new song" Cameron said encouraging him.

"What would I do without you guys" I heard Zach whisper
