Let It Shine

Kiara's POV

Today has been a slow day. Zach; he's not talking and I don't know what’s wrong with him. Maybe he is mad at something we said?

"Hey Zach, wake up!" Taylor yelled across the room. I glared at her and then turned back to look at Zach. He had his head down on his desk and had his arms clutching his stomach.

"Zach!" the teacher yelled and he looked up. When he looked up he looked pretty bad, even the teacher noticed so she went up to him and asked him if he was feeling ok and he shook his head so she told him that he could keep his head down. When the bell rang for lunch he dragged himself to our table and put his head down.

"You're not getting lunch?" I asked. He shook his head and I left to go get my lunch. I got back and soon the rest arrived.

"Zach what's wrong?" Mina asked putting a hand on his shoulder.

"Everything" Zach mumbled. I reached across the table, grabbed Zach's face and made him look up at me. His face was red and he looked miserable.

"Oh gosh Zach what happened?" Cam asked shocked at how bad he looked.

"Ever since the morning I've felt horrible" Zach replied. I touched his face and he was burning hot.

"Zach you're burning!" I exclaimed

"Is it a fever?" Nate asked

"I think it is" I said

“What do we do?” Cam asked

“I’m going to call your mom so she can pick you up” I told Zach

“No it’s ok, she’s working. I’ll be fine” Zach mumbled. I ignored him and called his mom telling her that Zach was feeling bad.

We took Zach to the office to wait for his mom to come pick him up.

Vanessa’s POV

Megan and I convinced Taylor to let us go to her house. Taylor never invites anyone to her house but we convinced her saying we needed to work on our cheer project. I was secretly hoping to see Zach, maybe even talk to him.

“Vic!” Zach’s mom called out

“What?” he asked coming down

“Take this to Zach” she said handing him a bowl of food.

“Why can’t he come get it himself?” he complained

“Because I sad so” she said

“Fine” he whispered

“Oh and make sure he eats” she said as Vic went up the stairs and she went back in the kitchen.

An hour later we were still here but we are in the living room taking a break when the one and only Zach Porter comes down the stairs and he is shirtless!

“Why don’t you put on a shirt, no one wants to see you like that” Taylor said but he ignored her and dragged himself down the steps.

“Zach I’m talking to you!” Taylor yelled but he still ignored her

“You’re ignoring me!? Oh did someone have a bad day?” Taylor asked as Megan and I awkwardly sat there as his mom come in the house.

“Zach honey what are you doing here?” Zach’s mom asked

“I needed something” Zach mumbled

“I told you I didn’t want you down here” she said

“But Mom-” Zach said

“But nothing” she said making him go back up

“What’s wrong with Zach?” Megan asked

“I don’t know” Taylor answered shrugging

Zach’s POV

I feel horrible. Everything hurts. I was lying on my bed looking at the ceiling when Vanessa walked in my room.

“Oh Zach I’m sorry, I thought this was the bathroom” Vanessa said

“Its fine” I said in my tired voice

“Are you sick?” she asked coming in

“Yeah” I said when Kristen came in

“Since you are sick I will be your nurse and will make you get better” Kristen said

“Oh really” I said

“I know the perfect way to make you feel better” Kristen said

“What is it?” I asked

“You need a big hug and lots of kisses!” Kristen answered

“You two are so cute” Vanessa said

“Vanessa what are you doing here!?” Taylor asked

“I got lost and stayed here talking with Zach” Vanessa said

“Zach stop being so lazy and get out of bed” Taylor said walking closer and then out of nowhere she pulled off my blanket.

“Go away” Kristen said pushing Taylor out of my room

“Um… well… I should go… hope you get better bye” Vanessa said and left

Kristen’s POV

I was taking care of Zach and he fell asleep. I sat on his chair watching him sleep when Aunt Kate came in.

“You made him sleep. Thank you” Aunt Kate said as she got closer to him to cheek his temperature. She stayed standing at the side of his bed watching him sleep and then she walked out.

I turned on the TV very low and watched cartoons then Kiara had to come great. I don’t like her. She is always with Zach. She took my Zach. She always talks all his attention. She makes him forget about me. Zach said he was always going to be there for me but that’s not true because of her.

“Zach is sleeping” I said hoping she would go away

“No it’s fine I wanted to come see him. I’ll just wait for him to wake up” she said

“You sure?” I asked

“Yeah. Um why are you here?” she asked

“I’m taking care of him” I said

She when up to him and tucked him in his blanket carefully then she laid next to him. She played with his hair and watched him sleep what a creep. I was very annoyed with here being here. She has nothing to do here. He is my cousin almost like a brother to me she is not even related to him. About 20 minutes later Zach woke up.

“Did I just die and go to heaven because I see an angel” Zach said lazily

“Zach you are too cute” Kira said smiling

“I don’t feel very cute” Zach quietly

“How are you feeling?” Kira asked

“Better but I feel hot and my head hurts, I also feel so drained out of energy” Zach said tiredly

“Do you need me to do anything for you?” Kira asked

“Just stay with me please” Zach said motioning for her to go under the cover with him.

“You’re so warm” Kira said cuddling with him

“Zach are you hungry?” I asked

“No and please don’t remind my mom” Zach said. Just as he said that his mom came in with food.

“Honey I brought you some food. Hi grils.” Aunt Kate said

“Mom I’m not hungry. I don’t feel like eating anything.” Zach said

“I don’t care, you are still going to eat” Aunt Kate said

“I don’t want to” Zach complained

“Do you want me to hold you down and feed you?” Aunt Kate threatened

“Mrs. P I will make him eat it” Kira said

Kira made Zach sit down and she sat next to him feeding him like a baby. He protested but he didn’t have the strength to push her off so he unwillingly ate. Aunt Kate gave him some medicine and he laid back down.

“Thank you Kiara” Aunt Kate said

“All for my little Zach” Kira said pulling his cheek like a baby.

Kira and Zach ended up falling asleep together.


The next day
Zach’s POV

“Honey wake up. Zach wake up” Mom said softly. I stretched and opened my eyes

“Morning Mom” I said

“Do you feel better?” she asked

“Yeah I do” I said

“Do you feel good enough to go to school or do I call you in sick?” she asked

“I want to go to school” I said

“Are you sure, you’re still a little hot?” she asked touching my forehead

“I’ll be fine Mom” I said getting up.

Throughout the day I felt better and better. Now it’s after school and I came to drop off something at my looker. I closed my looker and when I turned around Megan and Vanessa were there.

“Hi Zach” Megan said cheerfully

“Hi” I said

“Are you going to the party this weekend?” Vanessa asked

“I’m not sure maybe” I said

“Well I think- Ouch” Megan said holding her leg

“Are you ok?” I asked

“Ouch ouch ouch” was all Megan said

“What’s wrong?” Vanessa asked

“Cramp. Ouch” Megan said

“Why don’t you sit?” I suggested

"Um no I have to go to practice and the coach is very strict with being late" Megan said

"Well then you are going to have to suck it up cus we gotta go" Vanessa said

"I got an idea" I said

"What-" Megan said but stopped talking as I picked her up.

"Oh my gosh Zach you don't have to do this" Megan said

"Yeah Zach she can walk" Vanessa said

"Its fine" I said walking to the gym

"But Zach you have to get to your hockey practice" Megan said

"The coach will understand besides he doesn’t care if we're late as long as it’s not too late" I said

"How embarrassing" Megan said with her arms around my neck and hid her face in my shoulder

"It’s fine" I said laughing

"Zach I think she can walk now" Vanessa said as we were outside the gym

"I'm going to take her all the way in" I said

"Good thing Kenny is not here" Vanessa said

"Why?" I asked

"He has a thing for Megan and he would hate to see you carrying her like that" Vanessa said. Well that was awkward...

"Vanessa can you open the door for us" Megan asked

"Oh yeah ok" Vanessa said and opened the door. When we got in everyone turned to us and gasped

"She’s ok she just had a little accident so I brought her" I said. I hope they don't think I did something.

"That's nice of you Zach" Yesennia said. How embarrassing they don’t stop looking at me, I bet I'm blushing.

"Well princess you made it to practice and on time" I said sitting her on the bleachers

"Oh gosh Zach stop it" Megan said blushing

"It’s all right I'm messing around but I gotta go" I said

"Thank you" Megan said as I walked out

Megan's POV

That was the cutest thing ever. Zach brought me all the way to practice. The cramp thing was all an exaggeration; I did get a cramp but not as bad as it looked. I just wanted to see how he would react and things turned out better than I expected.

"Megan what happened? Why did he bring you? How did you do that?" Yesennia asked

"I got a cramp, couldn't walk and Zach was oh so nice and carried me" I said

"Wow" Yesennia said

"You know you faked that" Vanessa said angrily

"Did not! You're just jealous!" I shot back

"Would you girls shut up and stop talking about him. Seriously that's all you talk about" Taylor said annoyed

"Girls girls enough!" the coach yelled and we got to work.

Throughout the practice Vanessa kept glaring at me. She should get over herself. Well today was interesting. I want Zach!
