What Kind of Person Are You?

David Henrie

What kind of person are you?

(That's the only question.)

"We had a station wagon when I was a kid," David says. He looks like a cross between a Jersey Shore reject and a hipster. Hair swooped up in the front, and plaid overshirt. I've never understood why someone would want to look like a lumberjack, but hey, who am I to judge. I had a mustache for three months, one time.

"My booster seat was right next to my brother, Lorenzo's, carseat. He was the cutest baby, really.

"Anyway, one time, my mom and I were going somewhere. I was learning my letters then, and everything. Identifying them pretty easily.

"So, I'm looking out the window and I keep seeing these signs on the side of the road with a P in a circle with a line going diagonally through it. And I ask her, 'Mom, what does that sign mean?'

"'What sign?'

"'The one with the P on it.'

"'The circle with the line means, 'No.' So it's saying, 'P, no parking: Bike lane.'

"I've always remembered that. And now pretty much every time I see a sign like that, I think to myself, 'P, no parking: bike lane.'"

He looks almost sheepish. "And yeah... That's what kind of person I am."
