Solace

How did I get here? What events have brought me to this point?

Ash falls slowly from the sky like snow, accumulating on the cold hard ground which I am sitting on. The smell of smoke fills my lungs, threatening to smother me. I look across the desolate ocean with a sad expression. I am alone and no one is coming to save me.
