Please Be All Mine

Gerard came toward me quickly wrapping his arms tightly around me.

“Then that’s all that matters,” he said, his face buried in my hair.

“What do we do now?” I asked. “It’s obvious I have a problem with spying on people.”

“We’ll get someone for you to talk to,” said Gerard. “Don’t worry. We’ll get it figured out.”

I left Gerard’s house a little while later and headed slowly to my house. When I got home, I was surprised to see Frank sitting on my front porch.

“What are you doing here, Frank?” I asked when I reached him. He stood up quickly.

“Ellie,” he said. “I wanted to apologize for what happened at the library. I was stupid.”

“No,” I said. “I should apologize. I had actually been spying on you. Besides, I let you kiss me.”

“I know,” said Frank. He shoved his hands in his pockets. “I still want to apologize though.”

“Well, apology accepted,” I said. I smiled at him and he smiled back. He started toward the sidewalk.

“See you tomorrow?” he asked.

“Yeah,” I said. I watched him leave then went inside. I felt happy. I had figured out what I wanted. It had been Gerard all along.
