Secretary of War, Edwin Stanton, takes over the government declaring a state of emergency and putting the troops into a frenzy of action.

1st May, 1865

The Confederate government sends out a white flag and agrees to peace talks

7th May, 1865

Several Confederate Government officials, three generals, and the conspirators are put to death.

16th May, 1865

The Government of the United States is dissolved and replaced by a dictatatorship under the control of Commander Edwin Stanton.
