This Love Was Accidental

"Jack," I whispered.

Both boys stared at me for a moment.

"What?" Alex and Jack both asked at the same time.

"Jack, I want Jack." I repeated.

I made my decision, although I was sure that I was mixed up.

I just went with the obvious choice.

"You do?" Jack asked me as he stepped closer.

"Yeah," I nodded. "Jack, I've been in love with you sense I can remember."

"I love you too," Jack replied.

I smiled, but I was well aware of the other man standing in the room.

I turned to look at Alex, and I felt my head skip a beat. This boy ran here in the rain to see me, and I chose the other one.

"I'm going to go now..."

I let my eyes roam my heartbroken best friend's face.

"Let me walk you out." I offered as I started toward my door with him by my side. "Alex, you know that I love you, right?"

"Yeah, but not the same way I love you."

Not true.

"Do you have any idea how hard this is for me, Alex?"

"I love you, Aria. You know that! I told you that I don't know how many times. Don't you get it?! I don't just fall in love with anyone."

"It doesn't change how I feel about Jack..."

Or you.

I turned around and was ready to walk back into my house when I heard him singing.

I'm gonna break down these walls

That I've built around myself.

"Alex..."

"Don't you not see how in love I am with you? Why do you refuse to even give us a try?"

"I did, Lex."

"No, you didn't! You just used me for sex!" He yelled. "Now tell me the truth!"

"Because it would be pointless, Alex. Do you know how bad of a couple we are?"

"Aria..."

"I'm sorry, Alex. Go back to the hotel."

"Bye, Aria." Alex mumbled before he walked in the elevator, and got in. "I really do love you." He said before the doors closed. Alex took a part of me with him, but I know that I'm going to be okay, I hope. I just hope that Jack was the right choice. It didn't feel really real. I walked back into my apartment.

"Hey," Jack smiled at me from my couch. "How did it go?"

I sighed heavily, and smiled sadly at him.

"I'm not going to lie, it hurt like hell."

"Babe, I'm sorry." Jack stated as he wrapped his skinny arms around my body. "I know how hard that must have been."

"It's okay." I replied while I lied straight through my teeth.

"Are you sure?"

"I'm positive."

"I love you," He smiled and placed a kiss on my temple as I cried into his arms.

"I-me too."
