Ugly Duckling

It was midnight before I finally called Nora.

Luckily, she answered.

"Yello?"

I smiled at her greeting.

"Hi," I struggled for words, "It's Brogan. Brogan Kassarian."

She laughed, "You don't gotta clarify, sweetie. You're the only Brogan I know."

What do I say to this?

"Oh. Ha.. uh.. well, what's up?"

"Just chillin'... now can I ask why you're calling so late?"

"I'm sorrry... I'll hang up if-"

"Nah, all's good, hun. I've been waiting for you to call anyway."

"Really?"

"One thing you must know about me, B... is that I don't lie. Ever."

I fell asleep that night smiling.
