Ugly Duckling

Conner came again.

For Jesse.

Of course.

But even though he actually came through her window instead of mine, I sort of wished he could've have made the same mistake again.

Sort of
kind of just a little bit a lot

It's not like it would be any different.

I would call him a freak.

He'd apologize.

I'd lead him to Jesse's room.

Done.

But I still wished.

Yet just like Mommy used to tell me:

When you're in this family, your dreams almost never come true.

And she's been right so far.
