Twenty Four

The thing about control, especially in Jamie’s case, is that it’s all about perception. Some people set their lives to a deadlocked routine, some bleed.

The thing about control though is that once you have too much of it, it spirals far far away to a place you can’t even begin to hope to reach. Jamie’s Thing was about control, at least at first it was. He might not be able to control the people at school, or his mother screaming at his father over the phone, but he could control the amount of food he shoved in his mouth. And, when on occasion he would lose control, he’d reel it back in by letting his fingers follow and fish the nasties back out.

Delusion, illusion, it’s really all the same.
