A Tantalizing Kiss

Study Hall

Only a few seconds after the bell rang and most of the class had cleared out of the room. I took my time, shoving my books sloppily into my backpack before standing up and walking down the aisle. I met Rodger at the door, walking out with a quick glance over my shoulder.

The new girl was the only one left in the room.

“Remind me why we took this class again?” Rodger groaned as soon as we had left the
room.

I chuckled, “I was wondering that myself.”

“I don’t give a shit for any of these stupid plays that were written a hundred years ago.”
He ranted as we walked to his locker.

“Dude, they were written well before 1910.”

Rodger shot me a look, telling me to knock it off with the smartass. I rolled my eyes at
him, standing next to his locker. I leaned against the locker next to me, watching as he
traded in his books.

“I can’t believe she thinks we’d actually join her stupid club for five fucking points.”
Rodger continued to rant. He had an extreme dislike of Stein.

I held back a comment, knowing it’d only earn me a punch in the jaw.

Rodger slammed his locker shut forcefully, taking a step away, breathing in deeply. I
rolled my eyes at his dramatic display of anger.

“Let’s just go dude. I can’t be late again.” I said, as Rodger slung his backpack over his
shoulder. He ran a hand through his hair, walking next to me.

I had study hall next and while it was a blow off period, the teacher could be a real
asshole if you were late.

Unfortunately, being friends with Rodger meant that I was almost never on time. Rodger
and I walked side by side through the hallway, pushing past the groups that formed around
lockers.

“Excuse me.” A soft voice came from behind us.

A girl pushed in between Rodger and me, causing me to stumble slightly to the left. She
rushed off, her hair blowing from how quick she was walking.

“Oh damn!” Rodger said, holding out the cuss. “That is one fine ass that chick’s got.”

My eyes traveled down her torso down to the round little ass tucked tightly in those
jeans. I raised in eyebrow in approval.

“Oh damn in deed.” I said.

“I’d tap that in a heartbeat.” Rodger said.

I smirked, “I will tap that.”

He laughed, giving me a shove “You’re so full of it Johnson. Why would she go for you
when she could have this?”

Rodger moved his hand down his body as if showing it off.

I rolled my eyes “I can think of plenty reasons”

“Don’t hate, man.”

I grinned, “Who was that?”

Rodger shrugged, “Probably some freshman.”

“Freshmen don’t have asses that perfect.”

“I don’t know, could be a sophomore. I’ve never seen her before.”

I came to my study hall room, stopping in front of it. “See you late, dude.”

“Bye.” Rodger kept walking.

I opened the door, slipping inside just as the bell rang to start the next period. I got a
scolding from the teacher, who also happened to be the school’s football coach.

I smiled innocently, taking a seat in the back, “Coach, I’m on time today. Aren’t you proud
of me?”

A few people around me snickered as Coach Stu rolled his eyes, moving his attention
back down to the word search in front of him.

I took a seat in my normal spot.

I pulled out my phone from my pocket, hiding it under the desk as I responded to the text
Leah had just sent me.

The door opened, the noise grabbing everyone’s attention.

Coach Stu looked up, clearly annoyed with whoever was late. A girl walked in, the one
from Drama class.

She walked up to Coach and handed him a yellow slip of paper. He glanced at it before
crumpling it up and dropping it into the trash can next to his desk. She hesitated before
turning around and talking a seat.

She sat on the end row, closest to the door, only a row over from me.

I raised an eyebrow as she walked, realizing she had been the girl to push past Rodger
and I. The girl with the amazing ass.

Rodger would kill me when he found out I had study hall with her.

I dropped my backpack onto the desk next to me, climbing into it. I sat next to the girl,
waiting for her to say something.

She gave me a look quickly, before turning her attention to her bag. She pulled out a
piece of paper, scribbling down answers.

Long blonde hair fell down her shoulders, just barely touching the desk as she wrote. It
was beach blonde, the kind that most playboy bunnies had. Brown poked through slightly at
the top of her head.

So she wasn’t a true blonde.

She was short, but not too short, standing close to five foot five it appeared. She wore a
dark plaid shirt, the sleeves rolled up halfway. Only the bottom buttons were done up, her
cleavage poking out from the blue tank top underneath.

Her legs were crossed, skater shoes half hidden by the length of her jeans.

“Hey, you’re in my Drama class, aren’t you?” I whispered, trying not to let Coach see me
talking.

Her eyes flickered my way briefly “I think.”

“Mason.” I said, holding out my hand mockingly.

“Rose.” She mumbled, not looking my way.

“Shh!” Coach shushed angrily. He didn’t look up to see who was talking. He never did.

My hand dropped after a moment when I realized she wasn’t going to shake it. I sighed,
turning my body on the seat so that I faced her.

“You new here?”

She gave ma look, “Duh.”

I rolled my eyes, “So that’s why you walked in late.”

“Look, I need to get stuff done.” She said.

“Please, it’s your first day. You don’t have any homework.” I smirked, “I’m not an idiot.”

“I beg to differ.” She mumbled quietly, not wanting me to hear.

I raised an eyebrow, “What did you just say?”

“Nothing.”

“Shut up!” Coach grumbled.

I rolled my eyes behind Coach’s back. “So Rose, how do you like it here?”

“Not very much if you keep talking to me.” She snapped.

Someone must be PMS-ing.

“I barely even know you and you act as if I’ve raped your child or something.” I chuckled
quietly, surprised by how snippy she was.

“I worry that you will.”

“Next person to talk is getting detention for a week.” Coach threatened.

I groaned inwardly, reaching into my bag and grabbing a notebook out. I ripped out a
piece of paper, scribbling down my response on it.

'So what’s it going to take to get your phone number?'

I slipped the paper across the aisle, placing it on her desk. She frowned, picking it up
and reading the response. She snorted slightly, scribbling down her answer.

She shoved the paper to me.

'I’m not giving you my number. Ever.'

I smirked,'I can change that. Name your price.'

She shot me a look after she read my writing. I shrugged innocently, a smile across my
lips. Rose shook her head slightly as she wrote, handing me the note back within seconds.

'Look, you seem alright, but we’re not going to get along. Why don’t you find a different
girl to fuck around with? It would make both of us much happier.'

I raised an eyebrow.

'Nah, baby, I’m all yours ;)'

Rose groaned quietly. She crumpled up the paper, throwing it at my head. It hit me
square in the face, falling onto the desk. She glanced up cautiously at Coach so see if he’d
seen.

Coach wouldn’t have noticed if a plane ran through the window. Hell, he’d probably tell
us to shut up and that’s about it.

I unfolded the paper, making an attempt to straighten out all the creases.

'I was just teasing you, Doll.'

I handed it back to her.

'I know. Don’t call me ‘doll’'. She wrote back.

I smirked, 'How about I’ll pick you up after soccer today and we’ll go get something to
eat?'

Rose giggled slightly, covering her hand with her mouth.

'Is this your attempt at getting my number?'

I grinned as I wrote back, 'You bet.'

“Clark, Jameson, Stewart, detention” Coach growled, scribbling down on a note pad
near the attendance sheet.

Three groans filled the silence of the room.

“You want another week too?”

“No, sir.” They said in unison.

“That’s what I thought.” Coach leaned back in his chair, focusing on his word search
again. Rose left the paper on her desk, not answering it.

She seemed to be a little bit more cautious than I was.

I pulled out math homework, stumbling through it for the rest of the period. I glanced at
Rose, noticing how she had pulled a book out of her bag to read. She pulled her blonde hair
over one shoulder; her body slumped over the book.

The bell rang thirty minutes later. I packed up slowly, letting the initial mob rush go first. I
stood up, leaning on the desk as Rose packed her things together.

“So I was serious, how about we go grab something to eat after soccer tomorrow?” I
asked, crossing my arms casually.

“No thanks” She said, standing up, “I’m busy.”

“Doing what?” I climbed over the desk so that I stood next to her as we walked out.

“Didn’t you hear what Mrs. Stein was saying?” She asked, “I’m going to try out for
Phantom in the Drama club.”

I raised an eyebrow, “You’re kidding right?”

“It’s a great extra credit opportunity!”

“It’s a load of shit!”

She glared at me, stopping at the door way, “Don’t you dare call Phantom of the Opera a
‘load of shit!’”

I raised my hands innocently, “Whoa, calm down. It’s just a play.”

“Forget it.” She rolled her eyes, “I’m not going to waste my time with someone who
doesn’t appreciate the arts like I do.”

“Hey now, I appreciate the arts. That guy who cut off his ear was pretty chill!”

“Not that kind of art!”

I laughed, “I know. I was teasing.”

She shot me a look, “Whatever. I need to get to my next class, and so do you. So if you’ll
excuse me…”

“I’ll walk you there.”

“You’ll be late.”

“I don’t care.”

She sighed, “Mason, I appreciate the offer, but I do not need you to walk me around like
a guide-dog.”

I laughed, “Alright, I get the message.”

“Thank you.”

“I’ll see you later, Doll.”

“Don’t call me that!” She called over her shoulder as she walked away.

I grinned to myself as I walked to Lunch. She was testy, that was clear, but I could tell
that once she became comfortable with me, I’d be tapping that ass in no time.

Rodger was going to kill me.

I had a huge grin on my face as I headed to the cafeteria. I dropped my backpack off at
my usual table, heading into the lunch line where Leah stood, texting.

“Hey Mase.” She said, not paying attention.

“Hey Leah.” I said, “Did you see the new chick?”

“Rose or whatever?”

“Yeah,”

“What about her?”

“I’m just asking if you’ve met her.” I laughed, grabbing a tray.

“Yeah, I have.” Leah shrugged, piling food onto hers. “She’s kind of weird. A total drama
geek.”

“Oh really?” I raised an eyebrow, “She’s in my Drama class. I kind of figured that.”

“Well I didn’t know that, genius.” Leah laughed, tossing me a water bottle as she went to
pay for her food. I followed her in line, getting my money out of my pocket.

We walked to our normal table, sitting down.

Leah shrugged, “She’s gorgeous, she just needs to learn how to flaunt it.”

“I agree.” I took a sip of my water bottle “Her ass is amazing. Almost as amazing as
yours.” I winked for effect.

Leah rolled her eyes, throwing lettuce from her taco at me. “You’re so full of it.”

“Only the best for you, Leah.”

“Alright, enough with the lame attempts to win me over. Delran’s coming.”

I glanced behind myself and sure enough, her boyfriend was walking this way. Leah
moved over so that he could sit next to her at the table.

Delran was tall. He cleared six foot when he was in seventh grade and had to be close
to 6’ 4” now. He was black, contrasting sharply with Leah’s white skin. She was tan, but he was darker. Even I couldn’t deny they looked good together.

Leah was a little short for him, but he didn’t seem to mind. Delran was your typical
‘gangster’. He had the baggy clothes, the big diamond piercing in one ear and the chains.

The only thing he lacked was the accent.

But he was intimidating as hell if you got him pissed.

“Hey Em” Delran said, nodding to me. He never called me by my full name, resorting to
shortened versions only.

“Hey Dee” I mocked.

Leah shot me a look before turning her attention back to Delran. “Hey baby.”

They kissed.

I gagged, making obnoxiously loud puking noises.

Leah threw more lettuce at me.
