Heartland

Chapter Six

"Where are you taking me, commoner?"

"Heartland."

The boy halted at a big tree and there was a peculiar carving of a door carved there.

He knocked once. Then he knocked twice. And then he knocked thrice.

And then a low, deep, and gruff voice answered, "Password?"

The boy took a deep breath before saying,
"There was once an old man with a beard,
Who said, "it's just what I feared!"
Two owls and a hen,
Four larks and a wren,
Have all built their nests in my beard!"

The boy looked at her and grinned then the voice answered, "Enter."

Alice almost burst out laughing if she didn't hold it back.

"Nice limerick you got there, boy." She smirked at him as he led her inside.

"Aye, Thank you, darling." He mock-bowed and then kissed her cheek.

"You could have been more gorgeous if you were not crazy."
