Banquet
I told my Dad about the banquet, he couldn’t make it, shocker (note the sarcasm) So I asked Carter for a ride, so I’m sitting on the porch debating if I should knock or find another way there, I knocked. A lady in her mid 40s open the door “Oh you must be Carter’s date, CARTER!” she yelled,
“Actually no, I’m on the varsity team.” I smiled, she look surprised.
“For baseball?” She asked
“Yes ma’am”
“Oh”
“What is it mom, oh—“ Carter looked at me and stopped talking, I blushed, “Wow you look really pretty.” He told me.
“Thanks, you look pretty kick ass too.” I smiled and he laughed
“DEREK! LETS GO!” He yelled and led me to his brothers car. His brother walked out of the house wearing a suit
“We have to pick up Taylor on the way there so you kids are in the back.” We both nodded and climbed in the back. We were at the banquet in no time. When we walked in Starstrukk by 30h!3 was on.
“Wanna dance?” Carter asked me wiggling his eyebrows in a flirty manner. I laughed and nodded. After dancing for 4 songs we made our way over to the tables, I sat in-between Carter and Luke.
“Hey Cam” Luke greeted
“Aloha Luke” I smiled
“Ladies and gentlemen can I have your attention please.” Our coach yelled into the microphone, the voices soon died done and coach had everyone’s attention. “Thank you, I would like to start off by saying the 2011 baseball season has some great talent!” Everyone cheered. “I’d like to welcome our J.V. team first, Kendal Rupee playing left, Jason McHenry playing short stop,” This went on for awhile “And last but not least our J.V. caption Carter Fisher playing first.” I cheered for Carter as he went up to the stage. “Give it up for the J.V. team 2011!!” Coach yelled and everyone yelled and clapped for the boys on the stage. “Now for the varsity team, I would first like to welcome the youngest player on the team, number 22 Camille Henderson pitching for the team.” The room was pretty silent for the most part, seeing as most parents were confused as to why there was a girl on the varsity baseball team. I just walked to stage with a smile on my face, and my head held high. The rest of the boys were called and we high-fived each other. “And now for the captions Luke Roberts our starting catcher and Derek Fisher our starting pitcher.” That kind of hurt, because of 2 reasons: the first being I was a much better pitcher than he will ever be but also the look the parents were giving me, they thought I was just some sympathy girl on the team because they felt bad for me. When we were demised from the stage, I ran to bathroom. Once I got in there it was that girl Taylor that we gave a ride, she was shooting me a death glare
“Bitch if you even come close to my boyfriend I will ruin you!” She shrieked at me.
“Wasn’t planning on doing anything like that.” I told her honestly, she looked somewhat satisfied
“You should just quit the team; your life is going to be hell if you stay on it you know? You won’t hear the end of it. It’s easier on everybody if you just quit now.” She told me
“Are you serous?” I asked her “You have to be fucking kidding me! I LOVE baseball and no one is going to make me quit, not even a dumb-ass cheerleader like you!” I turned around and walked away. Carter spotted me and took one glance at me
“Wanna go home?” He asked, man I love this guy, I nodded and he gave me his jacket we left the hotel and walked to the nearest park and sat on the bench.
“Why me?” I whispered in his chest.
“Huh?” He asked slightly confused
“You must get hell from the guys for standing up for me and hanging out with me, why do you do it?”
“I-I don’t know” He stuttered “There’s just something about you that makes me want to help you and be friends with you.” I smiled up at him
“Thanks Carter, its nice to know that I have one friend.” We sat on the beach for a few more minutes till Derek pulled up in front of us, yelling and telling us to get in the car. Once we pulled in there drive was Carter walked me home
“Thanks Carter.” I tell him handing him his jacket back. He smiled and turned around
“Good night Cam.” He told me and walked back to his place, I smiled and opened the door, that night all I could think of was those beautiful blue orbs of his
