You're Worth It.
Chapter III
I slide the pieces of metal into my skin, I usually don't wear my piercings, but I’m going out tonight so I might as well. I look in the mirror, making sure I look okay. The studs in my lip don't look familiar, but I'll get used to them. I can barely see the one in my nose, but I know its there. I miss my piercings, but my job doesn’t allow them. I run my fingers through my hair to smooth it down, and fix my clothes a bit. Calm down Alison, it's just coffee. Liam wanted to see me, so we agreed to get coffee together, and I was nervous as hell. I didn't want to primp up too much, but I hadn't seen him in around 7 years, I wanted to look pretty. I grabbed my purse, and went out the door. I made good money, but I didn't like to spend it. My car, was just a simple Honda Civic, nothing too fancy. I hopped in it, and drove to a coffee shop called Deloria's.
The smell of coffee greets me as I walk in, the best smell in the world in my opinion. I look around, and I see him. He's looking down at his phone, his hair short as always, and still brown, and his brown eyes. He dresses similar to how he used to. Just a t-shirt and some jeans. The butterflies float in my stomach, killer butterflies. My heart speeds up a little more, and I can feel the nervousness. I slowly make my way over, playing what I’m going to say in my mind over and over, but when I approach the table. I don't say anything, he looks up, smiles, and says "Alison, hey." and I pull out a chair and sit down. I smile towards him, and say "Hey Liam." He has his cup in his hand, which I assume is hot chocolate, he was never a big fan of coffee. And he says "Would you like to buy you a cup of coffee?" I quickly shake my head, and reply "No, I don't want any right now. It's alright." He fiddles on his phone, then locks it, and slides it into his pocket. I just look at him, probably like an idiot. He's grown so much, looks so different. "So, Ali, you look, um really good. I like your hair this way." I can feel my cheeks heating up. 7 years, and he still has this affect on me. I look down, then back at him, and say "Yeah, long and dark. I like it this way too." He takes a sip out of the cup, and then asks "So, what are you doing, like job wise?" I smile, I love talking about my job, one of my biggest accomplishments. "Well, I’m working at the hospital, as a LPN, but I’m working on my masters degree so I can become a mental health nurse." He nodded, "Fulfilling your dreams, eh?" I chuckled, and said "Yeah, it's what I’ve always wanted to do. What about you?" He shrugged, "Struggling through college, honestly." I nodded, I understood that, college was hard.
Eventually, I ordered a coffee, and we just sat and talked, catching up on the years we haven't seen, or really contacted each other.
