Sixteen Candles

Chapter 3

Violet’s POV

Ryan wasn’t holding me that tightly. He was just making this all look good for Brendon

After checking the damage done to his maker, Brendon turned to me.

“You killed him.” He whispered.

“Don’t be dramatic. He was already dead. He’ll heal. I suggest getting him home, it could take an hour or two.” I informed.

“Do you find this funny?”

“I just incapacitated Chicago’s eldest vampire, yeah, I’m feeling pretty cocky right now.”

He would have hit me if it weren’t for Ryan.

“Brendon, get it together.” He snapped.

Brendon looked at him for a moment before looking back at me. Ryan took his hand off of my neck and wrapped his arms around my shoulders, just as tightly.

Brendon looked at me and reached out, taking my chin in his fingers. “You’re tricks can’t protect you from everything.”

No shit, Sherlock. My control was leaving my body. The familiar pulse was fading. Hence why he was able to touch me. “You can’t kill me Brendon.”

“No, not yet.”

“Not at all.” I made a last ditch attempt to keep my powers. The pulse got a little longer and I looked Brendon in the eyes.

He shut up and stared back.

“Take William back to the mansion. Order all of your Dandies back with you and then stay there.”

He nodded and turned around to grab William before using his own abilities to transport them both out of here.

When they were gone, I felt my knees give out and slumped against Ryan.

“You should know the limits of you’re abilities.” He said relaxing his grip.

“Yeah, sure.” I snapped.

The four others were still there. I wasn’t really worried about them.

Ryan reached his wrist in front of my.

I shook my head. “You don’t have enough blood in your body.”

“Still, it should help.”

I pushed him back and stood on my own feet. “I will be fine Ryan.”

“He grabbed my shoulder and shoved me into one of the buildings around us.

He opened his mouth to say something when I reached up and planted my boot into his abdomen and kicked him hard enough that he flew across the street.

He hit the wall and knocked a few bricks loose. He got to his feet fast and he looked really mad. He focused on my, fangs down, and rushed forward. I felt one more pulse through me and then he disappeared into mist.

I saw the humans across the street and barely registered them there as I fell against the building and onto my side.
