Invisible

A day at school

School is normal.

Running teenagers,
yelling teachers,
endless schoolwork,
giggles everywhere,
groups of friends,
shouted insults,
written notes,
worn schoolbooks,
loud lunchtimes,

and me
sitting by myself
both
in lunches and classes

invisible.

Yeah, invisible
until a group of girls show
wanting to be tough
wanting to be better.

Snickers and insults float my way
They crowd around me,
getting too close.

They call me
fat
loner
friendless
ugly
stupid
and
more

endless but predictable
walls of insults
blocking any escape.

I
stare
past
them
thinking,
The pain they're causing me
is nothing
NOTHING
compared to the pain I feel everyday
in the one place
I'm supposed to feel
safe.
