Insomnia

Another day.
Another sun rising.
I can see it
through my window.

Bruises are burnt
into the tender
skin under my
red-rimmed eyes.

I’m wrapped in my blanket
sitting with my legs curled
beneath me.

The dark presses back
fighting with light
before it eventually
surrenders.

I’m out of tears.
Tired but unable to sleep.
Completely drained.

I’m too sick of
having a loveless
father and a
homeless home.
