Lust for Blood

Chamber of Secrets

Cages were placed all about the room, different animals being in each one. The birds chirped around the room and my Gecko, Tanzi, sat calmly on my books as I wiggled my fingers under its chin, his blue eyelids blinking in enjoyment.

“Could I have you attention, please?” Professor McGonagall spoke, I stopped and Tanzi lay down, “Right. Now, today, we will be transforming animals into water goblets. Like so. One, two, three. Vera Verto.” McGonagall tapped her bird softly 3 times and casted the spell, the bird swiftly changed into a crystal goblet, I smiled in surprise. “Now it’s your turn. Who would like to go first? Mr. Weasley. ‘One, two, three. Vera Verto.” McGonagall stopped by Ronald.

I leaned back so I could see past Hermione towards Ronald as he pulled his wand out, he coughed then waved his wand three times towards his rat,
Vera Verto!” he commanded but the spell failed as it turned into a rat goblet, I laughed and covered my mouth as so did the rest of the class.
“That wand needs replacing, Mr. Weasley.” McGonagall started to walk back to her desk but Hermione raised her hand.

“Yes, Miss. Granger?” McGonagall looked back, I knew what question was coming,
“Professor, I was wondering if you could tell us about the Chamber of Secrets.” Hermione asked, the class fell silent as the Professor looked around with a worried expression.

We all wanted to know the answer.

“Very well. You all know, of course that Hogwarts was founded over a thousand years ago by the four greatest witches and wizards of the age: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin. Now, three of the founders coexisted quite harmoniously. One did not.” McGonagall started,
“Three guesses who.” Ronald spoke, I smirked to myself and rested my chin on my palm.

“Salazar Slytherin wished to be more selective about the students admitted to Hogwarts. He believed magical learning should be kept within all-magical families. In other words, pure-bloods. Unable to sway the others, he decided to leave the school. Now, according to legend Slytherin had build a hidden chamber in this castle known as the Chamber of Secrets. Though, shortly before departing, he sealed it until that time when his own true Heir returned to the school. The Heir alone would be able to open the Chamber and unleash the horror within, and by so doing purge the school of all those who in Slytherin’s view, were unworthy to study magic.” McGonagall spoke,
“Muggle-borns.” Hermione spoke, the professor nodded towards Hermione,
“Naturally, the school has been searched many times. No such chamber has been found.” McGonagall explained.

“Professor? What exactly does legend tell us lies within the Chamber?” Hermione asked again,
“The Chamber is said to be home to something that only the Heir of Slytherin can control. It is said to be the home of a monster.” Professor McGonagall explained, I taken a deep breath and bit my lip.

As we left the class in a hurry we started talking about the Heir of Slytherin.

“Do you think it’s true? Do you think there really is a Chamber of Secrets?” Ronald spoke,
“We’re you in that room then? McGonagall had a very obvious look of worry on her face. The other teachers have that same look…” I spoke, as we carried on,
“If there really is a Chamber of Secrets, and it has been opened that means—” Harry started,
“The Heir of Slytherin has returned to Hogwarts. The question is, who is it?” Hermione interrupted Harry,
“ Let’s think. Who do we know who thinks all Muggle-borns are scum?” Ronald spoke as Draco ran past us in a hurry Hermione was glaring after him.
“If you’re talking about Malfoy—” she spoke,
“Of course. You heard him. ‘You’ll be next Mudbloods.” Ronald repeated what Draco said.
“I heard him. But Malfoy, the Heir of Slytherin?” Hermione spoke,
“He looks a bit too wimpy to be the Heir,” I spoke glaring at Draco also,
“Maybe Ron’s right, Hermione, Meira. I mean, look at his family. The whole lot of them have been in Slytherin for centuries.” Harry explained,
“Crabbe and Goyle must know. Maybe we could trick them into telling.” Ronald suggested,
“Or I could scare them,” I smirked,
“Even they aren’t that thick. But there might be another way.” Hermione stopped, “Mind you, it would be difficult. Not to mention we’d be breaking about 50 school rules… and it’ll be dangerous. Very dangerous.” Hermione explained.
