Running Into You

Chapter 27

-Audrey's POV-

My friends stepped in the house and I was bombarded by hugs.

"Hey y'all! I've missed you guys!" I screamed, hugging each of them.

We sat there on the couch for a few minutes, in which my friends began telling stories.

While Krystina was in the middle of a particularly unny part, the doorbell rang.

"I'll be right back," I announced, walking to the door.

I opened it, a smile still on my lips from the story Krystina had been telling. There stood Zack. On my doorstep.

"Hey," he said nervously.

"Hello," I replied.

"So...I think we need to talk," he told me.

"Well, come in. I can send my friends to Ali's house," I told him, not sure what was in store.

He nodded and walked into the living room.

"Hey y'all," I began, "Me and Zack need to talk. You guys can tell me the rest of the stories later."

My friends nodded and left after sending small death glares at Zack.

"So, what's up?" I asked, taking a seat on a chair.

"I wanted to talk about what happened six months ago," he told me.

"What about it?" I asked him.

"Well, for one, I wanna say sorry. It was really uncalled for," he began.

I nodded. "Apology accepted."

"And then...I wanted to tell you how much you mean to me and how upsetting it was or me not having you there."

It was at this point that tears filled my eyes. Thinking about what he said...It took me back to what I did.

I started out staying at home. Soon, I got bored, I had to do something, so I went out to the beach. After a couple of days there, I met a guy. His name is Seth. I told myself I wouldn't do anything, we were just friends, Zack is who I wanted to be with.

Turns out, that wasn't what happened.

---

-Zack's POV-

"I never went out and partied with the guys. I sat in my bed, remembering when I had you there with me, and I felt like a failure," I told her.

I looked up from my hands, and over at her, where tears were running down her face.

"Hey, what's wrong?" I asked, coming over to her.

"I...I just--" she began before the door opened.

A tall, lanky guy walked in. He had dark brown hair, blue eyes. He looked like a total douche.

When he saw me sitting next to a crying Audrey, he came running up.

"What have you done to her?!" he yelled.

"Nothing," I told him, standing up.

"I find that pretty hard to believe," he snapped.

"And I find it pretty hard to believe that the Audrey I knew would even THINK about dating a guy like you," I snapped back.

"Why don't you just go home?" he asked, facing me.

"Why don't you just shut the fuck up?" I asked.

"Zack. Seth," Audrey said from her chair.

"Shut up," Seth said, slapping her across the face. "This is between me and him."

I stared, shocked at the occurance.

"Keep your hands off of her," I warned.

"Or what?" he taunted.

"Or I will fuck your shitt up," I stated simply.

"Please, you can't do anything," he scoffed.

"Try me."

When his hand started reaching for her, I snapped.

I lunged at him and wrestled him to the ground, punching him in the face repeatedly.

Audrey's friends, hearing the commotion, rushed over and stared.

After I got out all my anger, I got up, leaving him holding his nose, which was probably broken, and his swollen eye.

"What just happened?" Ali asked.

"He hit Audrey," I gasped.

Their mouths formed perect 'O's.

"Audrey, are you okay?" Maddie asked, walking over to her.

She nodded, wiping her eyes and looked at me.

"Thanks," she whispered.

"No problem," I told her.

I went over to Seth and picked him up. "Where's he live?" I asked.

"Downtown. The really weird shaped black brick house," Audrey told me.

I nodded. "I'll be back." And I left to take him home.

---

-Audrey's POV-

"How come you never told us?" Maddie asked.

"He said if I told, I'd be hurt worse," I said.

"Oh my God," Ali muttered.

I just sat there, waiting for Zack to return.
