Running Into You

Chapter 30

Audrey's P.O.V.

The next morning, I awoke in an empty bed. I yawned and stretched, wincing slightly.

I got up and padded downstairs to the kitchen.

"She's up!" Rian yelled when I walked in.

I smiled and got a mug and some coffee.

"Not gonna eat anything?" Ali asked.

"Not hungry," I replied.

"So? Eat a waffle," Krystina said, passing one to me.

I sighed. "Fine."

She beamed and sat down, her own waffle in hand.

"Where's Zack?" I asked after a few minutes.

"Right here," he called, stepping through the door.

"Hey!" I said, brightening up a little.

"Hey," he replied, smiling.

"What are y'all's plans for today?" I asked as Zack sat down next to me.

"MOVIES!" Maddie yelled.

"BEACH!" Jack screamed.

"Both?" Krystina said.

I laughed.

"Well, my plans were totally different, but whatever," Alex grumbled, walking in.

"And those would be?" Ali asked.

"Sleep," he responded, grabbing a mug and filling it with coffee.

"That's no fun," Maddie said.

"I beg to differ. I much prefer sleep," I said.

Everyone laughed.

"But seriously. Are we gonna go to the movies or watch a movie here? Because really, I don't feel like changing out of my pajamas," I said.

"PAJAMA MOVIE PARTY!!" Jack yelled.

---

We all moved into the living room to sit and watch a movie.

I lay on the floor next to Zack, a huge fleece blanket covering both of us.

"When do we need to talk to the police?" he asked as we waited for Rian to put in the movie.

"I don't know," I sighed. "Can we talk about it later? I really don't wanna think about it right now."

He nodded and wrapped his arms around me gingerly, trying to not hurt my back.

Zack's P.O.V.

"Beach time!" Jack yelled after the second movie was over.

Everyone but Audrey and I got up to change.

After they had changed and walked back downstairs, they passed the living room where we had moved to the couch.

"You guys aren't coming?" Rian asked.

"I...I really don't want to," Audrey said, staring intently at the TV screen.

Rian looked questioningly at me.

I shook my head slightly, a sign I'd talk about it later.

Rian nodded and traipsed through the door.

Moments later, Audrey scooted closer to me. "You could go, y'know," she said.

"Nope," I said.

"Yeah-huh," she responded.

"Nuh-uh," I said again.

"You are so hardheaded," she muttered.

"So I've been told," I replied.

She rolled her eyes and got up.

"I'm gonna run to my house real quick. I left my iPod charger there," she said.

"Do you need me to come with you?" I asked, already throwing the cover off.

"No, I'll be fine," she said, smiling.

She walked through the door, leaving me to wait anxiously for her return.

Audrey's P.O.V.

I walked down the street to my house, toying with my phone.

When I unlocked the door, I went straight to my room, throwing the phone on my bed and searching for the charger.

As I sat down to look on my nightstand, I heard my phone dial.

"Crap," I muttered, starting to get up.

"Audrey," I heard a voice whisper.

I shivered as a hand grabbed my shoulder, hard, making me wince as well.

"You told, didn't you?" I heard Seth's voice ask.

"N-No," I stammered.

"Don't lie to me!" he yelled, grabbing my shoulder harder.

"I swear I didn't!" I yelled, near tears.

"You liar. You fucking liar!" he screamed, throwing me against the dresser.

I sat slumped as blood ran from a cut above my eyebrow.

"I told you to never tell, didn't I?" he asked, coming closer.

"I didn't!" I yelled, tears running down my face.

"LIES!" he yelled once more, hitting me in the ribs.

I heard a crack and screamed. "Stop, please," I whimpered.

He ignored it and hit me again.

"Where's your bodyguard now?" he asked, repeatedly slamming his fist into my ribs.

Zack's P.O.V.

"Right here," I said boldly, stepping into the room.

"Get out," Seth growled.

"No thanks. I think maybe you should," I said, coming closer to him.

"Get out of the house," he growled again.

"It's Audrey's house. Let's let her tell us which one of us should get out," I said, stil lstepping closer.

"Seth. Leave," she whimpered.

"You heard her. Out," I said.

He narrowed his eyes at us.

"NOW, you litte fucker!" I yelled, beginning to lunge.

"Fine. But I will be back," he said, stepping away.

"Doubtful," I muttered, pulling out my phone and hitting the 'Stop' button on my record option on my phone, then running over to Audrey.
