Running Into You

Chapter 32

Audrey's P.O.V.

The next morning when I awoke, I was still sore, but not as bad as the previous day.

I walked downstairs to get some coffee and join everyone else.

"Audrey!" Ali yelled.

"ALI!" I yelled back, grabbing a bowl to make cereal.

"Hey. How come you don't yell my name?" Jack asked.

"Well, first of all, wouldn't that be the duty of your wife? And second, I did...WHEN YOU SQUEEZED MY RIBS," I replied.

"Oh yeah. Y'know, still sorry about that," he said.

I laughed.

"Are you feeling any better?" Maddie asked.

"Yeah. I'm just sore, that's all," I responded.

"That's understandable," she nodded.

"Yeah," I said as the door opened and Zack walked in.

"So, the police said they'd take care of it," he said, beaming.

"Seriously?" Rian asked.

"Yep," he replied, snaking an arm around my waist gingerly.

"That's good," Maddie enthused.

"HELLL YES IT IS!" Jack yelled.

I laughed.

"So, to celebrate, I vote we all go out to eat," Zack said.

"Ha, no," I said.

"Why not?" he asked.

"Umm, hello?" I said. "Huge bruise and a cut on my face. No way am I stepping foot in public."

"Isn't that what makeup is for?" Alex asked.

"Ha. Makeup won't cover the cut," I said.

"Then do something with your hair?" Alex asked.

"We could make it workk," Krystina sang.

"Fine," I muttered.

---

At 6:30 that night, I was sitting in a bathroom, surrounded by my friends.

"Y'know, all you have to do is my hair. I can do the rest," I said.

"Nope. We get to do it all," Ali said, rummaging around inside the makeup bag.

I sighed and sat there while they did my hair and makeup.

---

After they finally finished, I walked back into the room I was sharing with Zack to a purple shirt and black skirt laid out, along with black flats.

Guessing it was what my friends chose for me to wear, I slipped the clothes on, then walked down the stairs.

"SHE'S FINALLY READY!" Jack yelled. "FOOD TIME!"

I laughed and grabbed my phone.

"Let's go, then," I said as my friends followed Jack out of the door.

Zack stood by the door, waiting for me.

"Feeling better?" he asked.

"Yep," I said, thinking about how much better things might have turned out if Alex hadn't been given that question months ago.

"What are you thinking about?" he asked as we walked to his car.

"Nothing really," I muttered.

He raised an eyebrow but said nothing as we drove to the restaurant.

---

"FLYZIK JUST TEXTED ME. TOUR NEXT SPRING!" Jack yelled later that night as we were all getting ready for bed.

"You're coming," Zack told me as he checked his phone.

"Well then. If I have no choice," I said, smiling.

"You don't. You have to stay with me," he said, smiling back.
