Sequel: C'est La Mort

Don't Tell Your Mom the Babysitter Was in My Bed

Who The *** Are You?

Yeah, I’ll admit it. I’m a sucker. I couldn’t help but to feel bad about being a bitch to Matt last night. I’m on my away to his house right now.

I’ll be there asshole. was the text that I had sent him after long hours of thinking things over. The thing is, he’s right about what he said. It’s not like we’re friends. He hired me for a reason, and that reason is to babysit. So I’ll do just that. I’ll get payed for it, too.

If Matt wants me, he’ll just have to want. I will not give in and that’s the beauty of it. He will not have his cake and eat it too.

I made sure to dress extra sexy today, yet classy. I also noticed Matt’s eyes on me as soon as Val let me into the house.

“Hey, Quince’.” he greeted me with my last name, reminding me that he still hasn’t forgotten our conversation from last night.

“Matt.” I said stately.

“What’s with you two?” Val asked, looking between the two of us.

“I found out that she doesn't like Slayer.” Matt told her, glancing at me and then back down to the ground. He knew that I wouldn’t disagree if I really wanted to keep my job.

“What the hell is a Slayer?” she mumbled before rolling her eyes and coughing a bit.

“So, your last name is Quince’. That’s Spanish, am I right?” she asked me, looking at me quizzically.

“You’re right. I’m surprised you know that.” I told her truthfully.

“I might be blonde, but then again, so are you. You of all people should know that blondes aren’t as dumb as they may look.” she told me, a little rudely.

“That’s not true about all of them, Val.” I told her as if I were talking about a friend of mine. I’m talking about you, Val. She chuckled a little, turning around and leaving the room.

“She really isn’t stupid, you know. She’ll figure everything out if you keep acting like this.” he told me, smiling a little. I just nodded and looked down. He was staring at me intently when I looked at him again.

“Matt, I really need to talk to you about something.” I told him while I had the chance.

“Uh…okay. Can it wait until tomorrow morning?” he asked me with a smile on his face.

“Um, yeah. Sure.” I agreed, nodding and waving my hand.

“I’ll text you in the morning to see where you are.” he whispered just before Val came back down, carrying Lyric.

“Hi, little dude.” I said happily as she reached him over to me. He smiled happily at me as he wrapped his arms around my neck. I couldn’t help but notice Matt smiling at us from the corner of my eye.

“Come on, babe, let’s go.” Val told Matt, making the smile fall from his face. He nodded at her before looking back over at me.

“If anything goes wrong, call or text.” he told me before Val pulled him the rest of the way out.

I sighed. I don’t understand these people. Yet.

Later, I had put on The Lion King for Lyric and then I decided to text Brendan. The more I had thought about it, the more I decided that I do love him. He’s always there for me, he always makes me feel safe. He knows what I need.

Bren, I’ve been trying to call you. This isn’t the way I wanted to tell you, but… I love you, Bren. I do. Please just call me. I didn’t want to sound desperate, but I just didn’t know what else to do. I then closed my phone and hoped to get a call from him.

I was startled to hear Brendan’s ringtone blaring from my phone. I answered before I could even think.

“Bren.” I answered.

“Lacey. Listen, I want to see you. Where are you right now?” he asked. I heard the sound of some papers shuffling in the background.

“I’m at work until 9pm.” I told him, looking over at the clock. It was now only 1pm.

“Well, since you’re a babysitter, there are no parentals. Maybe I could stop by?” I could hear the hopefulness in his voice. I looked around for a moment, trying to recall any rules about visitors. Nope, none. I smiled to myself.

“Yeah, come on over.”

It was about an hour before he actually made it there, which wasn't anything to complain about since I live farther away than that. I pulled him into a hug as soon as I saw him. There was a smile plastered on my face the whole time.

"Someone missed me." Brendan stated with his own smile shining.

"Matt's dogs, you mean?" I asked, smirking and looking down at Matt's dogs who were growling at him.

"SHADOW! BELLA!" I yelled, pointing away from us. Shadow barked once before he turned around and followed Bella away. For some reason, they do not like Brendan.

"Those dogs are fucked up." Brendan commented before crossing his arms in front of his chest. I pushed my pointer finger up to my lips before pointing at Lyric, who was fast asleep on the couch.

"That's Lyric." I whispered before grabbing his hand and pulling him into the kitchen. Somewhere where I could still see Lyric if he woke up, but he couldn't hear us talking.

"Cute kid." He commented before we both sat down on bar stools.

"Listen, Bren. I just wanted to say that I'm sorry about the other day. I was just taken by surprise...I-" he cut me off.

"No, it's fine. It's not like I planned to say it or anything, I just felt it, so I said it..." he said, pursing his lips. I smiled at him and took his hand. He then leaned into me and kissed me on the cheek, but it was a lingering kiss. I didn't say it, but I felt a little strange about the kiss.

I was so wrapped up in Brendan, that I hadn't noticed someone come inside the house and come in behind Brendan and I.

"WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?"
