One Awkward Silence

She was here.

Again.

And I could barely watch the scene in front of me play out.

He loved her more, and this I could tell, though he denied it with kisses every time I tried to ask about his evening out with Ashlee.

It not only tore my heart apart, but it sickened me, as well, that he could spend an amazing night with me, and just blow it off with her the next day.

Of course, I should know that I’m “the other”.

I’m the back up when Ashlee couldn’t get to where Pete was; I’m the back up for “fooling around”, though he called it “making love”.

He didn’t love me.

“Are you gonna come, Trick?” Pete questioned, holding Ashlee around the waist with a grin.

He didn’t notice that I was hurt.

Maybe I was good at hiding it.

I smiled at him, shaking my head.

“No thanks… Have fun, Pete,” A slight frown crept onto his lips, but he shrugged, taking Ashlee’s hand and pulling her from the room.

The fact that he couldn’t even tell when I was hurt brought me to the conclusion that he didn’t care.

That he didn’t love me.

I wiped my eyes before they could spilled over, grabbing my jacket and walking out the door.

“I love you, Pete,”
