Castle in the Air

Summer ball 1

Image

“You look beautiful Bella.” My mother gushed as she stood behind me as I looked starred at my reflection in for full-length mirror a few weeks later. I was currently getting ready for the Summer Ball that was in a few hours and to say I wasn’t nervous was a big white lie. I was beyond nervous.

“Do you think Harry will think so?” I asked as I ran my hands over the soft fabric of my ball gown. My mother walked over and held out her hand so I could easily get down from the platform. I let the maids slowly take the dress off my body and carry it over to the seamstress who was going to add the final touches to the dress as I got my hair and makeup done.

My mother walked me over to the vanity, “He will be speechless Bella. Don’t worry too much and just have fun getting ready. Now would you like a cherry sweetener or do you want a tonic?” she asked as a butler walked up to her. Normally we wouldn’t drink but every now and then my parents would have a small drink and I would have a small glass of something when I was nervous.

“A cherry sweetener please?” I asked. My mother nodded her head and turned towards the butler to give him our order. In case you were wondering, a cherry sweetener is an alcoholic beverage that has red bull, cherry syrup, and three cherry olives in it. Three Cherry Olives is kind of like Smirnoff but stronger.

“Wait!” I called out right when the butler was about to step out of the room. He stopped and turned around. “I don’t think it’s a good idea to drink on a night like this. Could you get me water instead?” I asked. If I were to drink now, things would be embarrassing on my part and I now for a fact that Harry wouldn’t want anything to do with me.

My mom nodded her head in approval, dismissing our butler to go get our requested beverages, “How would you like your hair?” She asked.

I closed my eyes for a brief moment thinking about a music video I saw a few years ago. I opened my eyes and smiled, “Can we curl it then put it but in a bun but have pieces loose? My tiara would go on top.” I added when my mother gave me a look then told the hairdresser the style I wanted in french. Her and Father never let me attend functions without my tiara. Sometimes I hated the jeweled silver but other times I thought it was one of the most beautiful things I had.

My hairdresser Marc, squealed like a girl, “Qui se penchera sur la merveilleuse wue vous princes! Allons-nous commencer alors?” (That will look marvelous on you princess! Shall we get started?)

I nodded my head and smiled brightly, “Oui, nous devons.” (Yes. We should)

Marc nodded his head as he left to walk over towards his suitcase and grab the things he needed to complete his task. My mother’s close friend who was our personal makeup artist, Anabell, walked over and kneeled in front of me, “Savez-vous comment vouz voulez que votre maquillage à regarder?” (Do you know how you want your make up to look?)

I thought about it, “Etonnez-moi.” (Surprise me)

She nodded her head as she got up and went to retrieve her own things, but taking her time because it wouldn’t take her as long as Marc to get my makeup done. I laughed aloud when Marc came back with the curlers in a tangled mess around his body. “Laissez-moi vous aider!” (Let me help you!) I laughed as I got up out of the plush chair and took on curler from his hand and untangled it from him.

He sighed as he untangled the rest of them, “Merci princesse. J’aiété un tel gâchi!” (Thank you princess. I was such a mess!)

I smiled and nodded my head as I went to sit back down in the chair. Our butler had walked back into the room with my mother’s and my drink and I couldn’t help but mentally worship him as he bowed, handing me my bottled water. “Merci.” I said as he stood up and walked back to a side of the room where he would wait paitently until one of us needed him. Sometimes I felt bad for having our butlers wait for us every hour of the day. Especially our gaurds who just stood on corners of the castle, standing still, not doing anything but stare straight. I had spoken to my parents about this before and they said that they as well have tried to give them some relax time, but my parents were always told that the butlers and gaurds would feel like they were not doing their job.

It didn’t take them as long as I thought it would for my hairstylist and make up artist to do their job. I was only sitting in the chair for no more than two hours and before I knew it, my mother had  ushered all males out of the room so that I could put my dress on and all the seamstress to tailor anything that needed to be tailored.

“Rien ne doit être adapté. Seulement un pouce de votre robe ne marche pas courir le long du sol comme une robe de mariage (Nothing needs to be tailored. only an inch of your dress doesnt run along the floor like a wedding gown.) The seamstress stated after i had my put my dress on.

I laughed lightly at what the seamstress said, "No, we wouldn't want that now would we?" my mother asked me.

I shook my head, while smiling no less, "I'm going to go get your father and sister so they can see how beautiful you look." my mother walked around the chairs that were in her path and went out the door, closing it softly.

Once she was out, I sighed softly as my nerves picked up again. I wonder if Harry ever gets this nervous? I thought. I mentally kicked myself at how silly that question was. Why was I so nervous? I mean, this was not the first event that I have attended, so why was I making such a big deal over something so silly.

it's because you fancy him I know I do. Who doesn't?

I heard the door click open and I smiled as I saw my little sisters beaming smile as she walked in along with my parents, "you look beautiful Bella." my father smiled as he walked and sat in one of the three chairs in front of me.

"Thank you father." I smiled and blew him a kiss to which he caught in his hand and placed it over his heart."Oh, Prince Harry called earlier. He stated that a car will be here at 17:00 to pick you up and it is now," he looked at his watch. "Forty five till."

I nodded my head and looked forward, waiting patiently for the seamstress to finish her work on the bottom of my dress. "You look like a queen Bella." my sisters soft laughter sounded in my ears.

I turned my eye sight towards her as she sat on my mothers lap, "what is mother than?" I laughed

Realisation came over her facial expression and she looked like a deer in headlights. "Its okay sweetheart, your sister will make a beautiful queen one day." my mother smiled.

Before I could even blink, the forty five minutes were up and I found myself making my way, slowly of course, down the hall, down the two flight of stairs, and into the foyer where an older guy, who reminded me of our family butler, was standing by the door.

When I came into view, he tipped his hat and held out his elbow for my to clutch onto, "Your highness." I smiled, accepted his arm and say a soft thanks before turning my head and looking at my parents and younger sister.

"Have fun tonight love." My mother smiled as my father wrapped his arm around her shoulders and placed a fatherly grip on my sisters shoulder.

I smiled, "I will. I'll see you late tonight, will you be up?"

My parents nodded and waved as the butler and I walked outside. The first thing I saw was a white tent covering our walk way so that the preying eyes of the shutter bugs couldn't catch a peak of what my dress would look like. I mentally laughed at how funny it was. I almost fell like Kate Middleton as she walked out of the hotel and into the waiting vehicle.

The driver, who I learned name was burt, walked carefully down our steps and towards the gleaming limousine. There were many perks of being royal; this being one of them. I thanked Burt as he opened the door and helped me in. That's when I noticed the single Rose upon the leather seat. I picked it up with pure curiosity and brought it close to my nose so that I could breath in the beautiful aroma.

"Prince Harry placed the Rose just before I left. Should be a note somewhere." Burt stated as he started the limo and pulled out of the drive way.

I nodded and turned back to where I found the Rose and saw a pale blue piece of parchment sticking out from in-between the seat. I slowly pulled on the parchment, careful to not rip it, and held the piece of parchment up to my eye sight. I slowly opened the note and smiled when I recognised Harrys horrible handwriting. Even us royals are not perfect; hence our handwriting.

My beautiful Bella,

I am sorry that I could not personally pick you up for this event. My grandmother wanted me to help her with some last minute things. Just know that I am anxiously awaiting your arrival.

Yours truly, Harry.

I reposted the chapter because some people asked to see what the dress looked like. I shall have another chapter up by tonight or early tomorrow!
