You Take My Breath Away

Date

Kim stood in front of her mirror Friday evening, looking at her reflection. She was wearing a pair of gray skinny jeans, a purple off the shoulder shirt, and some three inch black heels. She had her hair straightened and her bangs over her left eye, as usual. She put on very minimal make up, just a bit of eyeliner, mascara and lip gloss. And she had a head band in.

She thought she looked really pretty and she was hoping Jimmy thought the same. She looked around for her phone and found it, slipping it in her back pocket. She grabbed some money and slipped that into her other back pocket, not really one for carrying purses.

When Kim heard a knock at the door she grinned and walked out of her room, closing the door behind her. She walked to the door and took a deep breath, unlocking the lock and opening the door. Her breath caught in her throat when she caught sight of Jimmy.

He was wearing a pair of black skinny jeans, a black V-neck shirt, and he had dyed his hair black and got it cut. She really wouldn’t have noticed him if it weren’t for the grin that was on his face. He looked absolutely amazing and she just wanted to jump his bones right then and there, but she held herself back.

Kim heard Jimmy’s sharp intake of breath as he looked at her and blushed, looking down at her feet. “Damn, Kim,” he whispered, looking her up and down. “You take my breath away,” he murmured, reaching his hand out for hers.

Kim blushed even more and put her hand in his, squeaking a bit in shock as he pulled her close to him. She smiled as he brushed some hair out of her eyes and looked up at him, looking into his eyes. “Thank you,” she said softly.

“Anytime,” he grinned, shaking his head. “Now, are you ready to go?” he asked, clearing his throat and taking a step back away from her, which disappointed Kim a bit.

Kim smiled and nodded, walking out and locking the door behind her. “Yeah, let’s go,” she said, following Jimmy out to his car.

She thanked him as he opened the door and helped her inside before running over and getting in himself. She couldn’t help but think of how much he was being a gentleman. She thought it was the cutest thing ever.

“So, where are we going?” she asked, genuinely curious. He hasn’t told her yet where they were going on their date and it was killing her to know. She didn’t like surprises that much and it was taking a lot for her not to bug him that much.

“You’ll see,” he said, smiling over at her and pulling out onto the road, causing Kim to sigh. He knew he was getting to her and it was making Kim a little annoyed, but she’d deal with it.

Kim watched all the stores and cars pass by as he drove to their destination, her thoughts swirling with all the possibilities of where their date could be. It could be at a restaurant, or just anywhere, really. She didn’t have a clue.

She furrowed her eyebrows as they pulled up to the beach and bit down on her bottom lip, getting out of the car when Jimmy held the door open for her.

Kim put her hand in his when he held his out for hers and he laced their fingers together, causing her to smile. All those small, sweet things he did caused the butterflies in her stomach to go crazy. She loved it when he laced their fingers together and when he held the door open for her, it was so sweet.

She walked down to the beach with him and they walked until they got to a certain spot with a blanket laid out. It had a basket sitting there and Kim couldn’t help but smile. “A picnic on the beach?” she asked, looking up at him.

Kim saw Jimmy blush and giggled softly, smiling. “Yeah,” he admitted sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck as he let her hand go. “It was the only thing I could think of and I thought you’d like it.”

Kim grinned and leaned up on her tippy toes, kissing his cheek. “I love it, Jimmy. It’s absolutely wonderful,” she said, sighing deeply as she walked over and sat down on the blanket with Jimmy.

She watched as he reached over into the basket and pulled out two paper cups, two sandwiches, two little containers, and a pitcher of what looked like lemonade. She couldn’t believe Jimmy did all of this for her. It made her want to kiss him over and over again while thanking him. She’s never had any guy do something this sweet for her before in her life.

“I don’t know how to cook so I kinda made us peanut butter and jelly sandwiches,” he admitted, blushing in embarrassment, which caused Kim to giggle and tell him it was just fine.

“Oh, and I brought ice cream! Which we should probably eat first…” he said, trailing off, looking like he was deep in thought over ice cream.

Kim laughed and took the container of ice cream from him and the spoon, opening it. She thanked him, a grin on her face. “This is all really sweet, Jimmy. I never would’ve thought you would do something like this,” she admitted, biting down on her bottom lip. She took a bite of the ice cream, savoring the taste. It was so delicious.

Jimmy chuckled and smiled at her cockily. “I come with many surprises, my love,” he said, laughing. “But, no, really. I like doing sweet things for the girls I like. And I have something I want to ask you,” he said quickly.

Kim raised an eyebrow as she watched him. He suddenly seemed really nervous and that confused her. He wasn’t just nervous so he must have something really important to ask her. “Okay, go ahead,” she said with a small smile, encouraging him to go ahead and ask her whatever it is he had to ask her.

“Well, I know we just met about two weeks ago and everything,” he said nervously, setting down his half eaten ice cream. “And… I really like you already. You’re sweet, funny, cute, and just… Everything I look for in a girl,” he said taking a deep breath. “So, I was wondering if maybe, you’d like to, I don’t know, be my girlfriend?” he asked hopefully, looking at her.

Kim couldn’t help but smile as she set down her ice cream which was also half eaten. “Jimmy, I don’t know why you have to be nervous about something like this. I really like you too, so, I’d love to be your girlfriend,” she said with a grin.

She laughed as Jimmy grinned and leaned over, giving her a long, slow, sweet kiss. It was one of the best kisses they’ve ever had and Kim never wanted it to stop but good things had to come to an end eventually.

They continued on with their picnic, talking and laughing, getting to know each other more then what they already did. When they were finished, Kim helped Jimmy pack everything up and stood up with him, smiling as he suggested they take a walk on the beach.

She took her heels off and held them in her right hand, holding his hand with her other. He said they could leave the picnic basket there and get it on their way back and Kim nodded, saying okay as they started their walk down the beach.

After walking for a while and talking, they started their way back to the car since Kim was getting exhausted. She started yawning like crazy, causing Jimmy to laugh.

Kim looked over at Jimmy and pouted, causing him to laugh more. “What?” she whined? She wanted to know what was so funny. She didn’t like being laughed at so much.

“Nothing. You’re just so cute when you yawn, and you look so tired,” he said, reaching over and poking her cheeks, making Kim blush.

Kim shook her head and sighed dramatically, pouting. “That’s not fair, Jimmy!” she said as he picked up the picnic basket from where they left it and walked the rest of the way to his car, getting in.
“It is perfectly fair!” Jimmy said, smirking over at her as he started the car and pulled out of the parking spot. He started heading home, making Kim look at the window at the scenery passing by.

She still wasn’t used to all the palm trees and she was still mesmerized by everything. When they got to her house, Jimmy walked her to the door and kissed her goodnight, making her blush.

Kim whispered goodnight to Jimmy and walked inside, closing the door behind her with a sigh. She walked to her bedroom and changed into a pair of shorts and a tank top, putting her hair into a messy bun.

She laid in her bed and pulled out her phone, calling Tori. She talked to her for at least an hour, telling her every detail about the date, going on and on about everything. After talking for what she thought was an hour but was two, she said goodbye and hung up, putting her phone on charge.

Kim laid back in bed and sighed, thinking about the days events. She really couldn’t believe Jimmy had finally asked her out. It was everything she could have dreamed of. He took her on a date to the beach and it was just incredible. She couldn’t wait for the next date, if there even was one. She really hoped he did ask her out again.

She knew he was going to, she just didn’t know when. She really hoped it was soon that way time didn’t just drag on and she didn’t drive herself insane by the time he did. She heard her phone beep and reached over, reading a text she got. She smiled when she saw a text from Jimmy. ‘Goodnight, Kimmybear. Sweet dreams’, it read.

That made the butterflies in Kim’s stomach go crazy as she put her phone back on her nightstand before she laid down and closed her eyes, starting to drift off into a very peaceful and dream filled sleep.
