York and Mori

When they broke apart from the kiss, York took a deep breath as he looked to Gretta hoping that it worked. She was completely still and had a shocked look on her face as she slowly looked up to him with the expression still there. Then to his utter relief, he saw a small smile begin to play at the corner of her lips as she reached up on her tippy toes and wrapped her arms around his neck. He smiled and kissed her cheek as he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close to him.

“Thank God you remember now. I thought I was going to have a hard time like I did with Zane.” York said as they let go of each other and she rolled her eyes.

“Well it is Zane you’re talking about there.” She replied as he laughed. He realized that Quinn must have run off somewhere because he was nowhere to be seen. “Why did you only remember and none of us remember anything?”

“I don’t know but I was thinking of going to Headmaster Stevenson about this. Something strange is going on and maybe she can help us figure out what it is. Besides she’s a researcher after all, she seems like the person to go to for things like this.” York caught the expression that Gretta had and asked her what it was for.

“York, Headmaster Stevenson has been missing for over a year now. Didn’t you know that?” He shook his head and said that he didn’t as she went on. “She was working on some project and then suddenly one day she vanished into thin air. The vice principal took charge until she was found but she hasn’t turned up since.”

“I was wondering who that weird guy was that we met when we first came here. He was a creepy old man.” York mumbled as they decided to head back to the café. They found Zane and Kate sitting at the table and joined them. York quick scanned the room to see that Mori wasn’t there and let it go figuring she was just skipping again.

It seemed that in the time that they had been gone, Kate had started to come around and remember little bits of what she had forgotten. He could tell though that Zane was getting a little frustrated by her stubbornness of trying to remember. So through the rest of lunch, York and Gretta left them alone since they didn’t want to get in the middle of it. When lunch was over, Kate and Gretta returned to the towers for the rest of their class and York and Zane headed to their next class.

“Toto my love!” Someone yelled behind them and when they turned, York saw Ella come running over and wrapped her arms around his arm, clinging to him. He sighed as he tried to pull his arm out but she held on tight and began to talk about something that sounded like drawing a life size portrait of her.

“Oh Toto, your sister told me about what a great artist you are. Won’t you draw me? I would be greatly disappointed if you didn’t. I would pay you, what about a nice candlelit dinner for just the two of us. You can come over to my house when you deliver the drawing and then we could have some alone time together.” Ella was saying as she started to play with his dog ears, making them twitch as she tickled them. Then he realized what she had first said about who told her about his drawing skills.

“Wait, Mori told you that?” He asked as he looked to her, he noticed the blank look of her face and then realize that he had no clue who he was talking about. “I mean Dorothy; she told you that I would draw you?”

“So you’ll do it!?” She asked totally forgetting about the first part he had said. He looked to her and realize that her grip on his arm had loosened and took that moment to pull his arm away.

“No,” York replied as he pushed past the kids in the hallway trying to disappear from her sight so she couldn’t follow him. Zane must have left when Ella had first started talking to him since York couldn’t find him anywhere. He figured that he had gotten bored and ditched York to make him suffer more. If that was the case, York swore that he would get his friend back for that.

He looked out one of the windows in the hallway and saw his sister outside walking into the forest with someone and decided to follow her. When he found a door that led outside, he gave a sigh of relief after feeling trapped with all those strange acting kids there in the school. The last place he had saw Mori was at the edge of the woods and headed in that direction even though he knew that she wouldn’t be there. But when he got closer, he could hear voices coming from the woods and followed the noises.

“Mori,” He called when he found her with the person she had gone into the woods with. They both turned around and he saw that Quinn was standing beside her with his modern glasses on and a small smile on his lips.

“Hey York,” Quinn said as York returned a smile before looking to his sister with an annoyed expression.

“Thanks for telling Ella that I would draw a portrait of her and being even more clingy than before.” He said as Mori started to laugh.

“Oh no problem big brother, I’m glad I could help.” She replied as he noticed that she was no looking behind him. He turned to see another figure walking into the woods and at first figured it would be Zane but then as the person came closer, he noticed that they were much older.

The man had a cape that was tied at the neck and hung down and dragged on the forest floor. He had nice expensive looking clothes on that seemed even better than what the other students at the school wore. There were black leather gloves on his hands and a black hat resting on his dark hair with a few streaks of grey at the sides. He had piercing blue eyes that seemed to stare right through York and into his soul and York noticed a small smile playing at the corner of his mouth.

“Hello York and Mori” The man said as he gave a small bow and completely ignored Quinn who was there standing a few feet away from them. York saw that the man had actually seen Quinn standing their but wouldn’t acknowledge him for whatever reason the man had. “My name is Sir Carter.”
