Sequel: Zee and Todd

York and Mori

Epilogue-Mori

Mori:
Mori almost died when she saw Zee walk through the kitchen door. Mori thankfully had the rest of the week off from her reporting job. Her boss demanded for her to finally take those vacation days that have been staggering all year. She was going to take this week off, but when she came home to surprise her kids, Zee was gone. After waiting two hours without her showing up, Mori’s motherly instincts kicked in. She tracked down Jack at school, interrupted him during his test and demanded to know where Zee was. He didn’t know and she spent the rest of her day using her undercover reporter skills and annoyance skills of calling everyone where her daughter was.
Mori taught her kids better. Even if they were going to go out and have fun Zee had to make sure to text Mori on where she was going. Mori’s busy husband was no help since he had a board meeting in Tokyo and wouldn’t be back till tomorrow. She didn’t realize how worked up she became over loosing her child.
“Don’t you ever scare me again young lady!” Mori mumbled in Zee’s hair as she hugged the tired girl.
“Mom… didn’t Jack tell you that we were back in time?”
She pushed Zee away and gave a big frown. Jack hadn’t told her. Mori knew that he probably didn’t want to freak her out any more than now, but now Mori felt like an idiot running around all over town trying to find her lost daughter. Jack came into the kitchen in his drowsy morning mode and Mori glared at her son walking past him. She never realized how much her children had grown. She was about a foot shorter than Jack and Zee had grown a few inches since she had been gone.
“When did you get home?!” Mori asked as she made the kids breakfast.
“Dad was leaving the research center when he spotted us returning.”
Mori sighed knowing how her husband hated it when his children messed around in the labs. Her cousin was worse. She knew that he scolded them for probably a good hour about messing around in the labs, then took them out for a late night snack, and then took them home.
“So where is your father?”
“He said something about trying to make Todd and my age back to normal.”
Mori rolled her eyes, when he gets in that inventing mode he’s unstoppable. Zee laughed as Jack’s sleepy head fell into his breakfast cereal. His eyes shot open and he looked around in his surroundings as if he was in a foreign land. Mori loved her children. She remembered a dream last night about meeting them briefly when she was in high school. It had been 25 years since she had even thought of high school. College and beyond became her mind priority.
Mori became the front page reporter at the city’s paper and helped also in the news department. She loved her job and had a great team working with her. Sarah went on to be the ten o’clock news host with Vi being her best producer on set. Kendal went off to auto school and worked in the automotive industry. Brady was somewhere out there, and Mori didn’t mind. She married the man of her dreams and had two beautiful kids. She was sad to see the old group split up, but it was worth it.
Zee threw a towel at Jack’s face, and Jack responded by tackling her. Mori’s husband walked into the room and hung up the phone. Mori smiled and hugged her hubby and kissed him. She then had a brilliant idea which he read right away.
“Oh, no, guy’s your mother has an idea…” he gave a freaked out look.
“It shouldn’t involve more ice cream,” Zee laughed, “you’ve gained weight again dad!”
Mori couldn’t help but giggle. She grabbed her purse and led the family out to the car. Zee ran to get dressed, but Mori told her that she didn’t have to. Where they were going it didn’t matter.
They ended up at York’s place and Zee went ahead and knocked on the door. Jack was being slow, still in his early morning mode and the pretty wrinkled face of York’s opened the door. Mori was always jealous that York’s wrinkles looked good, she had to work so hard to make sure that she didn’t look tired on her early morning job. They entered the house and Mori pretending to be serious told York that there needed to be a family meeting.
Everyone sat down and Zee and Todd were the topic of choice. Mori and York did a great job of trying to make the atmosphere as “troublesome” as possible to make them think that they were in trouble, but surprised the two by asking how their trip was. Zee and Todd glared at their families and eventually started to tell them what all happened.
They stayed there till lunch and decided to go on out.
Mori and York walked by their spouses and held their hands tightly. Even if 25 years had past, and the dangers of what happened in the past could come back, that didn’t bother them. They had wonderful families and couldn’t wait to see what the future had in store with them.
