Sequel: Zee and Todd

York and Mori

chapter 8- Mori

The last bell of the day finally rang and Mori looked up to the clock. She hadn’t realized that she was down in the basement room all day. She knew that York was going to kill her.
“Alright, everyone!” Zee said clapping her hands together, “Lets feed the cat and get out of here! I have a huge paper in Astronomy to finish!”
“Why do you worry so much about that class?” Todd asked typing something on the computer, “there’s only three people in the class including the teacher. Not much competition.”
“Why not? Astronomy seems more interesting than the science class that I’m in,” Mori yawned.
Zee spun around with a proud look in her eyes. She began to explain the importance of the sciences. She had been taking every single science class at the school ever since she came to it. She then explained how Junior year science which Mori was in was probably the best year of science ever.
“Think of it as Fairy Tale High’s chemistry course. You create multiple different potions and medicines. Things get entertaining when someone mixes the wrong chemicals together. A friend of mine’s hair all fell out and still hasn’t grown back yet!”
Mori remembered seeing a guy in school who was bald. Though she was confused on how that was possible. She tried to ask but Zee just continued on the other science courses that she had taken. Mori ignored Zee’s speech as she fed the cat. Mori then looked over to Todd who was shutting down the computer. The ceiling lights seemed to reflect off his skin strangely. His hood prevented Mori from seeing most of his face, but the more she stared at him, the more doll like he began to look.
He turned his head sharply at Mori who looked away quickly. She saw him frown in the corner of her eye but Zee interrupted their thoughts.
“Madaaaam Oliver! We’re off!”
The cat hopped down from it’s bed on top of a box and went to eat the food Zee gave her. Todd went to the door first and allowed Zee and Mori to go out first. Mori remembered her guy friends back at her old school. She usually had to fight them to get out of the door first. She was glad to see that Etiquette class was working at the school. Once Mori left the room Todd turned off the light and closed the door.
They traveled down the long hallway, passed the music rooms and ended up by the wardrobe. Mori told them how she had got to the basement and she tried to open the wardrobe doors only to find them tightly locked. Zee said that a lot of secret passage ways at the school were usually one ways in and out.
“I got locked in a room in the tower for three days! Luckily Todd and my bro found me before I starved to death.”
“Ah, yes,” Todd said remembering the day, “’Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair so that we can pull you out’. She then fought us for an hour saying that she didn’t trust us.”
“And I was right! You guys gave my beautiful long hair a huge knot! I had to get it cut!”
“And I keep telling you that you look better with short hair!”
They bickered up the stairs that were to the left of the wardrobe. Mori couldn’t help but laugh. They fought like an old married couple. They probably have been friends for years. Mori couldn’t help but thinking back to her group back at school. Brady was Mori’s version of Todd. They lived only floors apart their whole lives and they did everything together. Well, they did everything with each other till he asked Mori out. That day was the day their parents told them about their big move. Mori’s eyes lowered as she remembered back to that night after the talk with her parents.
She was crying in her room and Brady came in through her open window about to ask what was wrong. A sweet moment turned into yelling. He thought that she was only talking about the move as an excuse to say that she wasn’t interested in him. She then said some things that she regretted saying and he left. The day the family moved, he didn’t come to say good bye and on the way out of the city she saw him talking with a girl from class. After two weeks, she still hadn’t had the courage to call him up and talk.
Mori then felt two arms link with hers. She looked up to see Todd on her right and Zee on her left.
“Come on, Mo, don’t be such a downer on your first day!”
“It’s the end of the day now, and Zee and I know a great place that serves the best food. You can invite your brother if you like.”
Mori was about to object but they were already describing the delicious meals that the restaurant sold. Mori finally gave in and Zee and Todd clapped hands in success. Todd walked ahead to open the door for the girls and Mori thanked him. They walked out of the basement corridors and walked out onto the main floor. The halls were filled of people getting ready to leave school. They walked to Mori’s locker as she looked for York. After getting the things Mori needed they all made their ways to the front door.
“Mori?! Where have you been all day?!” York yelled sitting on his bike.
“I thought that I texted you,” Mori said looking at her phone.
“Cell phone reception is bad out here,” Todd shrugged.
“Just like everything else…” Zee frowned.
York cocked an eyebrow at the two new friends and Mori smiled introducing them to her brother. She told York that they ran the school paper at the school and that they invited her to join.
“We needed a photographer!” Zee smiled patting Mori’s shoulder.
York looked a bit skeptical of Mori’s new friends but she reassured him that they were great people. Zee acted like she was stabbed in the heart that her perfect “I’m a good, helpful person” record was ruined. Todd rolled his eyes and held out his hand to greet York. Mori was still confused on why he wore gloves in nice weather, but she felt that this wasn’t the time to ask. Zee then told York about their plan to go eat at a nice restaurant in town and invited him to join. Mori tugged on York’s shoulder saying that the food sounded so good…
