Lust for Order

The First Sign

I was sitting next to Hermione as Ron was stuffing himself opposite us.

“Do you ever stop eating?” Hermione asked,
“What? I’m hungry.” Ron replied, I sensed someone stepping closer to us, we all looked at Harry.

“Harry.” Hermione spoke,
“Can I join you?” Harry asked, we all looked at each other.

“Pardon me, professor, but what exactly are you insinuating?” we heard Umbridge outside,
“I am not going where that horrid prune is…” I snapped, Hermione grabbed my arm and pulled me along with her anyway.

“I am merely requesting that when it comes to my students you conform to the prescribed disciplinary practices.” McGonagall snapped,
“So silly of me, but it sounds as if you’re questioning my authority in my own classroom, Minerva.” Umbridge spoke, and taken a step up.
“Not at all, Dolores, merely your medieval methods.” McGonagall taken a step upwards,
“I am sorry, dear. But to question my practices is to question the Ministry and by extension the minister himself. I am a tolerant woman but the one thing I will not stand for is disloyalty.” Umbridge spoke, McGonagall taken a step back,
“Disloyalty.” I heard her whisper.

“Things at Hogwarts are far worse than I feared. Cornelius will want to take immediate action.” Umbridge spoke.

And so, the first sign was placed on the wall.

Dolores Jane Umbridge has been appointed to the post of Hogwarts High Inquisitor.

Umbridge had taken over the entire school and whenever she found something she hated, she erased it, changed it, and in some cases banned it.

As I was sitting in Dumbledore’s office he was showing me a spell as he stopped quickly,
“What is wrong?” I asked, then I sensed it,
“Wait here, and continue with that,” Dumbledore spoke as he left the room.

I sat back in the chair and sighed, I looked to my left and saw the sorting hat. It awakened and looked down at me.

“It’s been a long time, Meira Amaris Skylar.” The hat spoke, I nodded,
“Yes, it has… about four years,” I smiled, the hat bowed its point. I sighed,
“Not getting on with the new teacher?” he asked,
“No… she’s a horrid woman.” I snapped and folded my arms,
“Did you ever question why I put you in Gryffindor, when your roots are more for the house of Slytherin?” the hat spoke, I looked at it and shook my head,
“I was happy with the choice because my mother was in Gryffindor.” I replied,
“Yes, your mother had such a strong talent in divination, but her qualities were that of a Gryffindor. Just like you, you are more human then you realize, even though in your mind you quarrel saying that you’re a monster. Your heart, is just like your mothers.” The hat explained, I bit my lip gently and looked back at the paper.

I smiled to myself,
“Thank you.” I spoke.

I then heard the door open a while later and Dumbledore came in with McGonagall and Trewalney who was in such a bad state,
“Professor.” I stood up when I saw her,
“Our lesson is over, now go. This will also be our last lesson, I’m sorry but you will have to put up with Professor Umbridge from now on, I will tell her to not treat you differently from the other students but someone’s personality can’t be changed over night.” Dumbledore explained I nodded.

I understood that he had a lot going on at the moment. Every time he taught me, Dumbledore would leave for so long and then return when the lesson was over and if I hadn’t mastered the spell he would quickly tell me.
