Allie was walking towards her Literature class, holding her books to her chest, when her phone began to vibrate in her pocket. She shifted her books to one side, using her free hand to pull out he phone. She smiled at the caller ID and pressed the on button.

"Hello?"

"See you after class in front of your English building?"

Allie laughed, biting her lip. "Okay."

"See you then," Tyler said. Allie could almost hear the smile in his voice. There was a quick pause before he added, "Bye," and she heard the click signifying he had hung up. Allie went to class with a smile still playing on her lips.

It was torture sitting through class knowing she would see Tyler soon. When the teacher let them go early, she rushed to the washroom and made sure she looked alright. When she was somewhat satisfied, she headed outside to where she saw Tyler's car sitting just to the right. She walked over and was about to pull open the door when it clicked, and opened from the inside. She smiled as she got in, Tyler's hand slowly retracting back to the steering wheel.

His lip twitched up to the side and Allie's stomach flipped as he met her eyes with a quiet, "Hi."

Allie couldn't help but smile back. "Hi," she said, almost shyly.

"You up for lunch?"

Allie nodded. Tyler grinned. He leaned over the middle console and kissed her softly before pulling back and starting the car. Allie felt giddy, the feel of his lips on hers still lingering. Tyler threw her a smile before they began to drive away.

The next morning, Tyler picked Allie up to drive to practice. It was optional that morning, so her uncle had opted to stay in bed. Allie couldn't deny that she just wanted to spend more time with Tyler.

After practice, she waited. He came out with a smile. As they walked to the exit, side-by-side, their shoulders brushed. They were talking about where they were going to go to lunch when Allie heard the locker room door slam open behind them, and they turned around.

"Hey," Milan Lucic greeted them. He seemed to suddenly realize something, and his eyebrows raised as he glanced between the two of them. "Whoa. Are you two...?"

"Just friends," Tyler said quickly.

Allie's face fell, but she tried to quickly hide it. She wasn't sure if Milan had seen, but he simply laughed, winked, and muttered, "Right," before heading towards the door.

As the door slammed shut behind him, the only thing left between Tyler and Allie was silence. Allie clenched her jaw, before saying in as firm a voice she could muster, "Take me home."

"Allie."

She ignored him and walked towards the door. He followed, and she banged open the door, heading towards his car. She didn't want to go in his car. She didn't want to be near him. She didn't want anything to do with him. But she had no other choice.

She reached the car quickly. When Tyler arrived just behind her, he stepped in front of her, and reached for her hand.

"Alli-"

"No!" Allie shouted. She knew she had startled him; she had even startled herself. "Unlock the car and take me home. Now."

Tyler didn't move for a moment. Allie avoided his eyes, and he finally sighed, unlocking the car and walking around to the drivers side.

The ride home was completely silent. There were no words spoken between them. Allie was furious. It wasn't until Tyler pulled up to her uncle's apartment and she started to get out that Tyler grabbed her wrist. She yanked it free, getting out and slamming the car door behind her. She was surprised as Tyler bolted out of the car, and rushed to her side. He turned her to him by the arms.

"Allie."

She felt exhausted all of a sudden. Her eyes squeezed shut, and she wanted to cry. She didn't have the effort to yell at him, and so she just stayed quiet.

"Allie, please." Tyler's voice had become strained, and even as it pulled on her heartstrings, she refused to give in. She felt a tear slide down her cheek. This was so stupid. All of this was stupid. Why did she even get involved in something like this? "Allie," Tyler said again. "I don't know how you expect this to work if you don't talk to me about anything."

Allie's eyes shot open. She felt anger replacing her disappointment. She was absolutely enraged. Tyler let go of her arms, and she felt angry tears begin to roll down her cheeks. She was grateful there were hardly any people around to witness.

"Well, I don't know how this is going to work when you pretend we're not together in public," she spat.

"I have to keep us a secret! If I don't do something, the guys would figure it out."

Allie was in shock. She wanted to scream. She wiped her eyes with the back of her hand angrily before hissing,"Who cares if they find out?"

"Allie, your uncle would kill me-"

"I don't buy it, Tyler. He knows something's going on, and you know it. You're pathetic. He already knows I'm head over heels for you!" She was practically shouting now. Tyler's eyes widened and Allie shook her head. "I wish I wasn't." Tyler looked hurt, and Allie felt some sort of satisfaction in the fact. He didn't speak, and she took a deep breath before speaking again. She was surprised as her voice came out steady and strong. "If you want to be with me, you have to be with me all the time. Not just behind closed doors." Allie's voice got quieter as she said, "I'm not doing it. I mean it. I'm not. I can't."
