Snape Dragons and Dance Lessons

Chapter 12: Ever

Allegra walked through the dank dungeon hallways, lost in her own thoughts. Albus had called both her and Snape into his office the very moment he had returned, and only seemed mildly interested in the food fight, always glancing over at Severus with that twinkle in his eye, that quite frankly creeped Allegra out. Her dance class for that day had been good, a quick review, learning a new form, another assigned essay, the usual. And just like that, the day had gone by uneventful. She stopped in front of a door, her small hand wrapping around the knob and pushing it open the same moment that she knocked.

The large classroom was empty, no students and no professor. Leaving the door ajar she stepped further into the room, her fingers trailing along the desks as she walked towards the front of the room where a large black cauldron was sitting on a desk, steam rising from the mouth. Allegra suddenly stopped as her fingers brushed a desk, a shiver running though her body as her mind flashed images from her dream last night. Her breath hitched for a moment before Allegra quickly snatched her hand from the desk and smoothed the front of her ivory robes. The other two schools would be arriving in a couple of hours and Allegra had taken a moment of free time to prepare herself.

She had chosen to wear a finer pair of robes she had bought a couple of years ago, but had never worn until now. A strapless cream colored dress clung to her chest, a high empire waist cinching in tight before the fabric flowed freely down to the floor, billowing out slightly. Her robes were draped over the stunning dress, the ivory combining nicely with the cream of her dress. The ivory robes were adorned with silver stitching of ivy around the bottom of the sleeves and up the center seam and around the small collar. She had chosen to not reenchant her hair that day, finding the compliments and staring she received from the students to be a large ego boost. Her long golden curls had been wrapped into a simple half-up-do, a silver ivy leaf holding the locks back from her face, except for a tasteful bang that she had left to fall into her eyes. For jewelry she had chosen a simple diamond choker, long dangling diamond ear rings, choosing to leave her fingers unadorned.

“Can I help you with something?” a dark, soft voice called from behind her and Allegra quickly spun around, turning to face the speaker.

“Severus! You startled me!” she placed a hand over her breast as she looked up at the brooding teacher. She had indeed be startled when he had spoken, lost in her own little remembrance of that dream last night.

“I apologize then Professor, now if you may, why are you in my classroom?” he strode into the room and walked over to the steaming caldron, checking the contents before grabbing a small pinch of dust to add to the mixture. Allegra watched fascinated as a small pier of smoke billowed from the potion and Severus looked up at her through the foggy haze.

“The other schools shall be arriving shortly, and Albus had sent me to find you and remind you to get ready.” He looked at her coldly when she smiled innocently up at him. “He told me you tend to forget yourself in your work.” She pushed him a little further and in an instant he was around the desk, his face dark with emotion as he walked towards the door and held it open, gesturing out towards the hall.

“Now that you have delivered your message you may go.” His voice sent shivers through Allegra’s spine and she felt her stomach drop. An idea shoved itself to the forefront of her mind and she fought to hold back a smirk as she slandered towards him.

“I would, but,” his eyes narrowed at her as she came to a stop before him. “I’m not to return to the Great Hall without you accompanying me.” That last part was so a lie, but if it meant that Allegra got to spend more time with Severus, then she’d lie her way to Azkaban if she needed to!

“Very well, I need to change before we leave for the Great Hall.” He replied tearsly as he stepped out into the hall, waiting for Allegra to join him.

“Will the potion be alright if you leave it?” She questioned as they began to walk towards Severus’ chambers.

“Yes Professor Sabria, the potion must simmer for two days before the next step is done.” He said dryly as they stopped in front of his door. Quickly he released the enchantments that guarded his door and stepped inside, turning quickly to shut the door, he never allowed anyone inside his quarters.

“Aren’t you going to be a gentleman and invite me in?” Allegra said dryly smirking at him as she held the door open with her hand on the smooth wood. Severus hesitated for a moment before he softly sighed and stepped back allowing her to enter. Allegra looked around fascinated, she had never gotten a really good look at his chambers the only other time she had been in there, too worried about her head not exploding and doing some reputation damage control to care for the particular beauty of the room.

“Make yourself at home.” Severus said sharply as he quickly disappeared into his bedroom, firmly shutting the door behind him. Allegra couldn’t help but smile at how tense he was being around her, she didn’t know what had happened, but all day he had been careful whenever he had been around her. Allegra walked over to the wall and studied the vials and books that were stacked along the shelves, finally pulling a green leather bound one from the wall and opening it to a random page close to the middle. Allegra looked up from the book as she heard the door open and turned to see Severus standing in his doorway looking at her, an eyebrow quirked, but other than that no emotion was betrayed on his face.

“Fascinating reading material, I never knew you were a fan of medical journals.” Allegra said softly as she snapped the book shut and returned it to its place on the shelf.

“There are many things you do not know.” He said coldly as she approached him, her eyebrows furrowing as she took in the collar of his robes and undercoat, it was slightly tilted. Without asking for permission Allegra reached out and unsnapped the top button of his undercoat. By instinct Severus’ hand shot up, gripping her small wrist in his hand.

“Relax Severus.” Allegra said smiling softly up at him. “I’m just fixing your collar, it’s not like I’m undressing you!” she had returned her attention to fixing the mess of fabric bout his neck that she didn’t notice the flicker of shock that flew over Severus’ face.

“There!” she smoothed her hands over his now fixed collar and down his shoulders, stepping back to look at him. “You look dashing.” She smirked as his eyes narrowed at her, a sneer curling his lips. Chuckling softly to herself Allegra quickly exited Severus’ chambers, him hot on her tail and quickly locking the door as soon as it had shut. Allegra kept glancing over at Severus as they walked in silence, taking in the black robes he had changed into. They vest fit nicely to his chest, she could see just a peak of the white shirt that lay beneath, black pants held tightly to his legs, black leather shoes snapping along the hall at the same pace as her high heels. His robes were a simple unadorned black, no fancy trimmings or designs at all, sighing Allegra looked forward once again, she would have to buy him some more fashionable robes for Christmas.

The final class for the day let out and students eagerly filled out into the hallways, quick to be free of their last lesson and eager to see the other schools arrive, although many students stopped to observe the sight that was swooping through the hallways. Almost all students stopped and stared as the two professors strode by, silent in each other’s company. The two were the opposite to the other, where Allegra looked pure and welcoming, Severus was dark and coldly sneering at all. Finally realizing all the stares Allegra giggled softly and without warning laced her arm through Severus’, smiling up at him innocently.

“We’re causing quite the spectacle.” She said softly as he turned his glare down at her, she only brushed it off continuing to smile up at him.

“And you, Professor Sabria, are only fueling their fire.” Severus said sharply and pulled his arm free from her grasp, noticing the pout that instantly appeared on her lips.

“Don’t worry Professor!” a body slid between Allegra and Severus, quickly linking their arm with hers.

“Yeah, we’ll keep you company.” Her other side was quickly dominated by another body, their arm sliding through her free arm.

“Well if it isn’t my favorite twins.” Allegra laughed softly and readjusted her arms so they were more comfortable in the two boy’s grasps. Instantly Severus was storming away, his black robes billowing furiously.

“Aw don’t worry-

“bout him professor,”

“you’re too pretty for-“

“him anyways.” Fred and George kept completing each other and Allegra’s face snapped between the two, trying to pull a sentence together from what they said.

“Well thank you, but I do believe it is my decision on who I chose to fancy.” She smiled at the two as the cringed and one of them gagged slightly. “Come on, he’s not that bad!” she laughed at them and they turned to look at her horrified.

“Honestly professor?” she nodded her head at the one that spoke.

“He’s worse than-“

“just ‘that bad’!”

“He’s horrible!” Allegra rolled her eyes at the two as they entered the hall. Severus, who had been standing next to the entrance talking to one of the Slytherin students about an assignment excused himself and came to block the isle of the three.

“You two,” he said nondescriptivly and Allegra and the twin on her right pointed at themselves. “No, the other two.” This time Allegra and then twin on her left pointed at themselves. “Not you Allegra!” Severus said frustrated, and all three froze as they realized what the Potions Master had once again just said. “Weasley twins, detention, me, after dinner.” He quickly fled to the Professors table, leaving the three standing shocked.

“Did he-“

“Just say-“

“What I think-“

“He said?” Dumbly Allegra nodded her head, her eyes locked on Severus’ brooding form.

“Wow, he’s-“

“Never called-“

“Anyone by their-“

“First name.”

“Ever.” The twins finished at the same time and Allegra pulled out of their grasp to turn and smirk at them.

“You just have to know the right buttons to push.” She said winking at the two as she slandered her way to the Professor’s table, swaying her hips to give a good show to not only all those who were behind but also in front, namely Severus. As she settled into her seat, ivory robes billowing out softly she couldn’t help but stare confused at the two new seats that were situated on either side of her, blocking her from Albus and Severus.

“That is where Igor Karkaroff, Headmaster of Durmstrang will be seated.” Albus said as he placed his hand on the chair that was situated between her and Albus.

“And the other?” she asked as she looked venomously at the chair that separated her from being next to Severus.

Albus chuckled softly and placed his hand on the back of that chair. “This is where Ariana LeRissa, Professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts at Durmstrang, will be seated.” Allegra glowered and turned away from Albus, trying to think of something to cheer her up so she would be in a better mood for when the schools arrived, after all, she was part of the welcoming committee per say. Her eyes scanned the hall and landed on the Weasley twins, one of them, Fred maybe, now had vibrant pink hair, that was smoking softly, while the other twin, George possibly, had green hair, and by the way they were hunched together whispering about something, Allegra knew that their merrymaking wasn’t quite done yet.

hey so here's the chapter for the day. just a heads up, I start a mini summer dance intensive program monday, and you should still expect chapters almost every day, but if I don't get one out one day, it's because I was swamped with work and didn't finish the chapter.
