Chapter 24: I Did It Because I Love You!

Allegra sighed as she sat at the professor’s table in the Grand Hall, Igor had already disappeared for the night shortly after Arianna had left. She had a feeling this might finally be the night that things heated up between the two of them, and about damn time too!

“If you’ll excuse me Albus, I think I will retire for the night.” She interrupted the politely chattering headmaster and stood from her seat to stride from the room. She silently entered her room, taking a couple hour long bubble bath before slipping into a very classic floor length nightgown. The cream silk fabric billowed around her body, holding tight around its empire waist and thick tank top straps. She released the enchantment on her hair, choosing to let her long golden locks billow around her shoulders. She had found it a rather good idea to release the enchantment now, so that she would have an easier time prepping it tomorrow for the Yule Ball.

“Oh bugger, my hair clip!” Allegra muttered darkly just as she had pulled the covers down on her bed. She slowly paded out to her study and pulled open the top drawer of her desk, retrieving the silver ivy leaf pin. She twisted her hair up and secured it with the pin, smirking in satisfaction as she caught her reflection in a mirror on the wall.

She swiveled to return to her bedroom when the door to her chamber suddenly exploded open. Chunks of door flew into the room and crashed into the wall, shattering the mirror she had just glanced in.

“Oh come on, I haven’t even replaced the other door yet.” Allegra wined as she thought back to the door that Arianna had blown up.

“You used me!” the voice bellowed and Allegra’s eyes widened in fright, that was definitely not Arianna. Allegra panicked, lunging for her wand that was on her desk, a well aimed spell making the wood skitter across the room. Allegra jerked her eyes up, anger flaring in them and faced her opponent head on. Igor Karkaroff.

“I can’t believe you used me!” He screamed as he stalked into the room, Allegra holding her ground in sheer defiance.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” She said calmly.

“Don’t know what I’m talking about?” he spat, glaring down at her in disgust. “I’m talking about the fact that you conspired with Arianna to use me to get to your precious Severus Snape.” He lunged forward before she had the chance to move and wrapped his hand around her neck, squeezing tightly.

“Igor, let me go.” She choked as she clawed at his hands, the only thing she could do
.
“Why would I do that?” his ferocious glare bore down into her eyes. “You deserve to die, you disgusting little slut.” As his hand disappeared from around her throat she took a well needed gasp of breath. Allegra’s head snapped to the side instantly as Igor’s open palm connected with the side of her face. The horrible force of the blow was enough to stagger her footing, and head spinning she crashed into her desk, her side slamming into the corner of the desk.

The silver pin clattered to the ground as she slowly slid down, clinging to the wood for dear life as pain wracked through her body, she had no doubt once again tore open her side, having conformation when she tasted the metallic salt of blood flavoring her lips. Allegra looked up at him through her hair, shakily holding her courage, she was helpless without her wand, and she was in no condition to be moving.

“You have no idea what I want to do to you,” he purred darkly as he stalked forward. “I want to slowly torture you until you beg me for death, rip apart your mind bit by bit, destroy your soul-“

“Expeliarmus!” The voice yelled and Allegra let out a sob of relief, blood spattering from her mouth to fly across her nightgown. Igor’s wand flew from his hand, landing closely to her own wand, and she so desperately wanted to go for them.

“Ah, Severus, how good of you to be here, there’s something you need to know.” Igor smirked sadistically turning to face the darkly clad man.

“Severus don’t listen to him!” Allegra said harshly as she glared at Igor.

“Don’t listen to me?” Igor spat as he glared at her. “We are both fools in this little wench’s play game!”

“What do you mean?” Severus asked evenly as he regarded them both with a cool indifference.

“I mean that she has been conspiring since the beginning of the school year, her and Arianna, to use us both.” Severus turned a freezing glare towards her.

“Severus, please, it’s not what it sounds like.” She pleaded, trying to defend herself.

“Shut up whore!” Igor spat bring attention back to himself.

“What were they using us for?” Severus questioned.

“Arianna was sleeping with you to get to me and Allegra the opposite.”

“What?” Severus snapped as he once again turned his gaze to Allegra.

“Severus, please, listen to me, it’s not like that!” she demanded once again.

“Then how is it?” Severus snapped viciously as he himself advanced on her.

“I-I….” she looked down ashamed, she couldn’t say it.

“Just what I thought, just whoring around.” Igor spat down at her.

“I did it because I love you!” Allegra screamed as she locked her eyes on Severus. “I love you, I always have loved you.” Severus remained silent, and his eyes still held a frozen glare.

“Someone in love doesn’t play around with emotions like you did!” Igor spat in Severus’ silence.

“How else were Arianna and I supposed to reach you two! You,” she flung her hand at Igor. “Are too chicken shit to actually gain a pair and go for the girl you like.” She looked softly over at Severus. “And you would be blind to love even if it came up and kissed you right on the lips.” She smiled sadly at him.

“Please, what you did was out of sadistic joy, not love.” Igor spat and stormed to the side of the room, snatching his wand before storming out of the doorway, past Severus.

“Severus?” Allegra asked after a few moments of intensely awkward silence. Severus looked up at her from the floor, his mouth opened to speak, but instead he closed his mouth and quickly turned on his heal, leaving.

“Severus!” Allegra screamed after him. “Come back.” She whispered as she heard his echoing door slam. And then silence, complete, heart breaking silence, and then the first tear fell. The first of many through that cold and silent night.
